Very friendly people (like most colombians), famous for loving partying and celebrating (la rumba), and Cali is the salsa capital of Colombia. San Antonio has a nice view and buzzing atmosphere in the evenings before a night on the town (perphaps). Cali is a city with the feel of a small town but the benefits of a large city. However like most of Latin America there is a lot of poverty and inequality, be aware of this but dont let it ruin your trip, the colombian people dont let it ruin their lives and the positivity should rub off on you after a short time. Cali has a few large shopping centres (centros comerciales) which are worth a browse (Chipichape is one of the nicest). I recommend a day at the impressive Zoo (allegedly one of the best in South America) and a coffee at a local Juan Valdez is essential. There are some nice church buildings around worth visiting if you appreciate colonial architecture. Many parts of the city sell local, traditional handicrafts (artesanía) which make great souvenirs. Cali's biggest sell though has of course to be its all-year round summer. A nice hot climate, usually not too dry or with the levels of humidity found at the colombian carribbean coast for example.
Advantages: Small town, close to other resorts Disadvantages: getting big
My wife and I stayed at Calis Beach in may 2008. Th ehotel was away from the sea front. This made it nice and quiet on a night.
Cails itself is a small village. It is all the villas that are getting built around it that makes it a big place. You can walk from the west end of the sea front to the east end in half hour slow walk. The main street running away from the front only takes a few minutes. This street is made up of bars and shops.
There is a water park being built and I was told that it will be open for 2009 season. While you walk down the sea front where most of the restaurants are you will be tempted by the waiters to use thier restaurant. Please dont be offended by them. If you stop and talk to them you will enjoy the crack and find out more about the people there.
Turkish people are very family orriantated and take ...

Calis Beach is the most relaxed resort in Turkey I have visited, yet still has everything you could possibly want. There are local transport links to Fethiye and the surrounding area right on the door step. We stopped in Caretta Apartments (www.carettaapart.com) which I have to say felt like home from home. The apartments are family run and you couln't ask for anything more.
Back to the resort - There are plenty of restaurants and bars and a few gift shops for theose last minute gifts. Calis has a market every Sunday where you can buy all of those famous Real Turkish Copies of just about anything you want with Turkish Delight a plenty. Don't forget to try the Turkish Pancakes on sale in the cafes at the Market they are simply delicious.
Hope this review helps ...

Advantages: good prices, friendly people Disadvantages: can be hassled
OK, I'm biased, having just got back from our third holiday in Calis (pronounced "Chalish").
WHERE IS IT?
The resort is in SW Turkey, in region of Fethiye. The town of Fethiye (pronounced fet-ee-ay) is 2 miles away and from Calis you can get the dolmus boat which runs every half hour (9am - midnight) and costs 2.5 Lira (approx £1) per person each way and takes almost half an hour.
It is 38 miles east of Dalaman airport by winding, often scenic road, although some of the fun has been taken from this journey by the opening this year of a toll tunnel under the mountains. It takes about an hour from the airport to the resort, depending on the speed of your driver.
Many airlines fly direct to Dalaman, including Excel Airways, British Airways, Thomas Cook and Monarch. With the opening of the new airport at Dalaman earlier this year I ...
