I live in the Notheast UK. Being a family man I like to get value for money. Although not swayed by peir pressure I like to be informed. I like to meet people from all over the country. Dont like being fobbed off by companies on the phone.

My wife and I stayed at Calis Beach in may 2008. Th ehotel was away from the sea front. This made it nice and quiet on a night.
Cails itself is a small village. It is all the villas that are getting built around it that makes it a big place. You can walk from the west end of the sea front to the east end in half hour slow walk. The main street running away from the front only takes a few minutes. This street is made up of bars and shops.
There is a water park being built and I was told that it will be open for 2009 season. While you walk down the sea front where most of the restaurants are you will be tempted by the waiters to use thierrestaurant. Please dont be offended by them. If you stop and talk to them you will enjoy the crack and find out more about the people there.
Turkish people are very family orriantated and take care of each other. This shows when Turkish families walk along the front. English families are most welcome. The kids are treated like adults by the waiters. If you ask for something they do not have in the kitchen you will see them go to the shop and buy it to cook. Its no problem for them to make you night go better.
The streets behind the front are partly the back of the hotels so you see the kitchens and how clean they are.
In the canal that runs through the resort you can see small turtles and snakes. I saw a couple of seals. The canal boats that run over to Fethiye are good value. The cost last year worked out at about £1:50 return. A great journey on a hot day. Although the prices have been going up this last couple years, Calis is still fairly cheap. Although Fethiye is cheaper.
There are a lot of places to visit from Calis Beach, trips you can book from a stall to ones you book with your rep.
Overall, like most Turkish resorts, you will find lots to do and friendly people. On the other hand you will find the odd person that will try to rip you off. So as with all places you visit (including the UK) take precautions with your money. Use the safe in the hotel and only take what you need for the day. You can always go the next day to buy something you wanted.
I found Calis a very slow resort and many Turkish families thier on holiday which made it even better. It is all on the flat but has high kerbstones, so if you are a bit disabled you need to take your time. You can still get over roads because of cuts in the kerbs.
