Why go to Callao

Advantages: Cheap, Fortress
Disadvantages: Not many things to see, away from Lima

Callao is the main sea port of Peru and lies next to Lima. You will have to visit it since Jorge Chavez International Airport is there. As soon as you step out of the airport you will see what most of Callao looks like: an industrial area full of depots, army bases and suburban houses in a bad state.

But it does have its attractions, all mainly in area called La Punta. Real Felipe is the fortress at the seaside which defended the ...
...upper class beach houses during last century.

Otherwise Callao has very little to offer, I would recommend you spend your time in Lima and visit Callao only if you are curious and brave. I certainly do not recommend staying overnight in Callao.

Typcical bloody holiday makers!

Advantages: my mum, cheap drink if you know the locals
Disadvantages: drunk holiday makers

Tenerife place of year round sun and well drinking if youre me. My mum moved there last october, the village she lives in Callao Salvaje is pretty quiet, mostly residential so i find its great for a relaxing holiday on the cheap. From the village i can get taxis or drive in to Las Americas in about 20 minutes or 15 euros (or if its new years eve 10, speed limits being a challenge on that night!). Shopping in las americas is mostly touristy type places, the locals shop in Adeje or one of the other towns further in land. For nights out in las americas i am a Tramp, Tramps is the biggest club on the Starco drinks cost about 4-6 euros, opposite the Veronicas. Tramps has two outside bars and a DJ playing as you arrive, and to be honest theres no need to go in! But when you do youll either be confronted by a huge room that goes ...

Tenner reef!

Advantages: Nice weather, Friendly, Options of noisy or quiet!
Disadvantages: 4hr flight!

Tenerife is an island and is part of the Canary Islands and is 1500miles from southern England. It measures 51miles in length and 31miles in breadth and has a stunning climate all year round. The north of the island is very green and boasts an amazing plant life and the south of the island is volcanic and has a busy tourist industry. PRICES You can visit Tenerife for any price really depending on who you know and what you want. However the average price for a four star for two weeks is about £500 per person although you can get cheaper if you shop around! SOUTH TENERIFE The South West of Tererife is the busiest when it comes to English tourists with Playa de las Americas and Los Christianos being the main two hotspots. Also there is Costa Adeje, San Juan, Callao Salvaje, San Miguel amongst others. PLAYA DE LAS AMERICAS ...

Sun, Sea and Sangria

Advantages: Virtual year round sunshine and only 4 hours away
Disadvantages: Some areas rather built up - full of fish and chip shops, singlets and neon signs

resorts are loud, brash and overcrowded. Playa de la Americas is rather seedy and used looking in places - it's seen better days to be honest. Too many late night tourists heaving their dinners and Malibu cocktails into its streets and beaches. Los Cristianos is in the process of going the same way, but everything there is still newer and shinier, so it doesn't look as run down and seedy yet. However, if it's sunshine you are after, then the south of Tenerife is your best bet. To avoid nightclubs and noise pollution, quieter resorts can be found further up the coast in Los Gigantes/Puerto de Santiago (my favourite bit of the island and a popular destination for ex pats moving out to the sun). Other popular and developing areas are situated in Golf del Sur/Costa Del Silencio (NB: not very silent as very near the airport) or Callao Salvaje ...
