Advantages: Very friendly and helpful staff Lovely pools Disadvantages: food a bit naff..Room too small ..Lots of noisy Spanish people,
We stayed at the CalypsoHotel in Salou for a 7night trip. On our arrival (10pm) we were politely dealt with by the reception staff. We were put on the top floor of the older building (This was OK for myself and my husband and 12 month old baba , but I wouldn't want to stay on this floor with young children. The lifts were good, and they always worked, and even though they only held 4 people, we didn't have to wait long.
Our room was way too small really, and it had very dated furniture and an uncomfortable bed. We had lots of storage space for clothes etc. This room slept 4, but I wouldn't want to stay in it with any more than 2 people.
The bathroom was brilliant, and it was very very clean. The shower was excellent, and we were supplied with clean towels and toilet rolls every day. I wish I could have a shower as powerful as ...
Advantages: lovely food and good service from the waiters Disadvantages: Everthing else about the place
I have already done a review about Blackpool, and I absolutely love the place, we went to Blackpool two years ago on a family holiday, myself husband and three kids. We booked our holiday through The Belfast Telegraph travel agentsand we went through Ulster Bus tours, the price was £800 approx this included traveling expenses and the hotel.(Bed, breakfast and evening meal). The hotel was the Elgin and we were told that this was a great hotel for families.
Arriving at the hotel
We arrived at our hotel at about 7.30pm and had to que at the reception to get our keys this I didnt mind but our dinner was at 7.45pm and we still had to get our luggage to our room, we got our luggage sorted and went down for dinner, the food was beautiful and the service from the waiters was fantastic.
First impressions of the hotel

Advantages: Clean, tidy, drink prices, food (aint that bad), entertainment-day (games), Thomson kids club, 4 pools Disadvantages: Positon in town, entertainment on evening (mimed), lots of school parties
stayed there in May 07, about 5 minute walk from shopping area, bit of a trek to the beach. Entertainments team friendly but mimed quitelot. Drinks reasonably priced in hotel. 1.50euros for bottle of water with meals which are okay and varied but its cheap to eat out as we did. breakfast was okay apart from hotdogs n not real sausages.. have themed food nites and restaurent staff get dressed up accordingly. Caypso 11 buliding is where they put familes yet its above the stage n can be noisey till midnight as we found out as out bedroom was right above it on 1st floor. If put on ground floor Id ask for a move as security on patio doors is a bit naff and chance of burglary (in my opinion). Thomson staff was very friendly in the kids club otherwise rather miserable and not very communicative, did the usual hard sell at welcome meeting ...
