Pike and Zander Fishing
Advantages: Great fishing, not expensive Disadvantages: cold and bleak
...venue is known as the 40 foot Drain and intersects the 18 foot drain. Fishing here is wonderful.
Live bait works best although artificial lures, spinners or dead bait also work well. My best haul to date is 10 fish between 6 and 15 pounds in a 6 hour stint during November 1996. No zander though they were all pike.
The drains are very open to the elements and it gets very bleak and cold up there so you need to wrap up warm and make sure you take ...

Woolworths-Gone but not forgotten
Advantages: More space for M&S undie dept Disadvantages: No Woolworths in Cambridge
...interest.I came across one for Woolworths listed under Cambridge Attractions! Well I agree that W is a useful store but there's more to Cambridge than that....
Leaving aside the 'attraction value' of W compared with a town full of medeaeval buildings and beautiful parks .......there is an important piece of info that everyone should know about this store.
It no longer exists!
It closed down several years ago.The building now houses part of Marks ...

Punting in Cambridge - brief summary!
Advantages: Good fun, beautiful scenery Disadvantages: Possibilities of falling in if punting yourself!
Punting is one of the most traditional things to do on a summers day in Cambridge. When the weather is good, it can often get quite busy, but that only adds to the excitement (especially if doing the punting yourself!). Punts can be hired in several locations around the city; you can either go through the more country route from Grantchester (where there are fantastic outdoor tea rooms in an orchard), or along the 'Backs' of Cambridge, past the likes ... ...Especially in summer, there are often a number of people trying to entice you to their punts. There are several different companies, including ones such as Scudamores. Punts range in sizes and prices; you can either punt yourself, or hire a 'chauffeured' punt, whilst your guide gives you a history of the beautiful scenery and buildings you go past. On top of this, you can also go the extra mile and opt for champagne and other extras to enjoy on your ...

Cambs Resident
Advantages: Vue Cinema, Parking pay machines now except Credit Cards Disadvantages: Toilets, Food Court, Restaurants, Cleanliness, Crowds
...'Cineworld' . Unfortunately visiting the Grafton Centre was a huge dissapointment. It has rapidly gone down hill from what it was. It is filthy dirty everywhere, lacking in toilets and the ones it does have are rarely cleaned and full of litter, and throughout the mall, the doors, stairs and floors are filthy and stained and streaked, and the whole place is very outdated and crowded, with hardly any places to sit and where there are seats they are ... ...toilet paper. I will now avoid the Grafton as much as I can, it is in desperate need of a re-vamp, come on Cambridge, with the high council rates and being one of the biggest college towns in the UK, we can do A LOT better than this!!!! ...

Lion Yard - Now renovated to be the 'Grand Arcade'
Advantages: Very modern, good selection of shops, recently refurbished Disadvantages: Parking is quite expensive (but can use Park and Ride service)
The Lion Yard shopping center has now been transformed into the 'Grand Arcade'. After renovation work for some time, the new shopping center opened last year, and has been really popular. Whereas the Lion Yard shopping center was somewhat out-dated and lacking in good shops, the Grand Arcade has been built to a very high specification, with marble-effect floors and walls. It is now much larger than the original shopping center, and has welcomed a ... ...In my opinion, the Lion Yard shopping centre has been completely transformed with the opening of the Grand Arcade. It has a really modern feel and a good atmosphere. It connects to the car park, which means there is good access, and there are cafes located within for refreshments. Despite the close proximity of the car park, it is worth bearing in mind the traffic in Cambridge. The Park and Ride service also stops just outside the Grand Arcade and ...
