Advantages: Good all inclusive package and right on beach - literally! Disadvantages: Rooms bit small for families if in standard room type
I was lucky enough to be on a work trip to Jamaica and one of the hotels we spent the day at was this one - the BeachesSandy Bay - we had a good look around and also had some lunch whilst there so I will advise my opinion on the hotel from my point of view.
What is Beaches:
First of all I will explain what the Beaches properties are. You may or may not have heard of the Sandals name which is an Ultra all inclusive chain of hotels in the Caribbean. By ultra all inclusive it means everything is thrown in including all service charges, food, entertainment and normally premium as well as local drinks at the bars. Sandals is normally for adults only and so to benefit from the name they built up they started the chain of family properties too in the Caribbean with the same concept only where children were allowed too and under the name ...
Advantages: Just delicious Disadvantages: absolutely none
The sun has in the last few days kindly popped her head out of the dark dreary grey clouds which have hovered ominously above. She has reminded us that shortly temperatures will rise and summer will finally have arrived, and with it the delights that can only best be enjoyed in such glorious conditions.
Ice Creams, and other delicious summer goodies will be on display and offer to tempt us into the vast array of confectionery delights for which a scorching summers day was made for. The casual stroll along the hot dusty sandybeach can only really be enjoyed to the full if one hand has the customary Ice firmly in its grip.
There are many delights on offer and everyone no doubt has their own particular favourite, but I suspect that the one which I am reviewing today is very high on most peoples list being that it is not just Ice ...
Advantages: Clean goldan sandy beach and clear shallow water. Disadvantages: gets very crowded
The island of Rhodes does lack one thing, and that is really nice sandybeaches. Most of them, including nearby Lardos and even the beaches of Faliaraki are a little stony and containe a good deal of shingle.
Pefkos beach however is one of the best on the island for clean golden sand and clear shallow water that is ideal for families. For about 8 Euros you can hire two sunbeds and umbrella for the whole day. The sunbeds do really dominate the beach which is only about 400 metres long and no more than 20 metres deep, so there is very little room for you to just arrive with your towel under your arm and lay where you want.
If you are content to lie relaxing in the sun and go for a really refreshing swim in calm shallow waters then this is the beach for you. If however you are into beach volley ball, frisbee, a game of footy or want to ...
