Lucky dip...
Advantages: Ideal location, wonderfully luxurious building. Disadvantages: Some of the staff really need further training and/or to work on their attitude to their guests.
Firstly, this is a beautiful building. It's also ideally situated if you don't want to be driving too much as it's slap in the heart of the city. I've stayed there twice now with my partner and she and I share the same opinion. Both times we've had one of their "executive double rooms" and been very impressed with it. The rooms have been comfortable and the beds very luxurious. Our experiences with the customer service have been rather more patchy. ... ...in bed. The tray of food that arrived, while exactly what we ordered was largely cold and inedible, the scrambled eggs, especially, looking as though they'd bounce if they were dropped! My recommendation would be to go for the cereal if you're having breakfast in your room. Or to go down to the ballroom for breakfast. Whenever we've gone down for breakfast we've been lucky enough to be seated in the window overlooking a park and thoroughly enjoyed ...

Cambridge Crowne Plaza; appeals to all punters!
Advantages: Location, atmosphere...It's luxury in a great city" Disadvantages: Can be hard to locate
...gave Amanda directions to the Crowne Plaza. Embarrassing, yes! This is not the easiest hotel to find in Cambridge's eco-friendly travel system. We found it, though. Eventually. And we're very, very glad that we did! We arrived, finally, in Downing Street - and located the hotel - an easy task once you know where it is! We pulled up in the front drive and handed over our keys for valet parking. £7.50 was an absolute bargain, and valet parking is always ... ...with what we saw. Standard Crowne Plaza stuff included a very comfortable, very wide King-size bed with pure-white duvet and foot-level bed-spread. They do style really nicely, I think. Nice working desk, comfortable chairs and occasional table. Interactive colour TV, iron, ironing board. There was a modern, quiet, efficient air-conditioning system - so nice to see, after our last trip to a non-air-conditioned hotel on the hottest night of the year. ...

Working With, Living With
Advantages: Great access to Cambridge Disadvantages: Maybe thinks it's better than it is?
Ok now hear me out before you start to yell. Whilst I have never stayed in the Moat House Hotel, it is situated in the village I have lived in my entire life.. in fact it's not just situated, it's sitting on my doorstep. If you look out the back of my house you actually look on to the hotels golfcourse, if you exit my road exactly opposite is the staff entrance to the hotel, and if you drive for 10 seconds down the road is the grand entrance. So ... ...around it - and working in it - is what I shall base this review off. Looking for an alternative review? Keep reading. Bar Hill is a village that has been on the grow for quite sometime now, not population wise - as no new homes have been built in for as long as I can remember - but in a business sense the plan for the village was always to offer a lot of jobs and the such. I had to do a project on the village for geography, but the jobs the village ...

Good location but gets booked up
Advantages: Location, location, location Disadvantages: Not good at multi-tasking if there's a function being held there
My parents stayed here for my graduation and found it in general to be very comfortable and was in an ideal location. It has some parking which anyone who has been to Cam before knows is pretty useful. The food is really good there and the reception area is spacious with views over the river. Really close to all the central colleges so would be good for sight-seeing.
Not particularly good as regards value but the location means it's very handy.

Brooklands - NOT a romantic reservation!
Advantages: Breakfast. Disadvantages: Their cock-up and subsequent cover-up.
Read this factual account of Brooklands before you decide on staying here. Would you stay at Brooklands again if you reserve a room months in advance to arrive and find they have given your room to someone else? We (me and the wife) stay in a lot of hotels, seeing bands around the UK. We were looking forward to a great weekend in Cambridge, and we travelled some distance to get to the hotel… to find the double room ensuite we were looking forward ... ...When we arrived that afternoon, we knocked several times before someone came to the door. We were then asked our names – this was on the doorstep – and it was very cold. We were kept waiting outside while the person closed the door and checked our booking. I remember thinking this did not look good. Then we were told our room has been given to someone else. The person who made this mistake apparently wasn’t available but we were told it was an emergency: ...
