Brooklands - NOT a romantic reservation!
Advantages: Breakfast.
Disadvantages: Their cock-up and subsequent cover-up.
Read this factual account of Brooklands before you decide on staying here. Would you stay at Brooklands again if you reserve a room months in advance to arrive and find they have given your room to someone else? Sleepless in Cambridge
Advantages: Good location - close to city centre and train station
Disadvantages: can be noisy at night
I was going on a trip to cambridge, and needed somewhere to stay for a few nights. I was going on a budget so needed somewhere fairly reasonably priced, clean with an ensuite bathroom, and with a good location.
I found sleeperz, a modern converted train depot.
In terms of location, it is ideal - and is quite reasonable for the price. However, it can get quite noisy at night (esp if you keep your windows open to cool down the room in summer), also ...
...3am don't exactly guarentee a good nights sleep.
The rooms are very small and basic, okay if you don't plan to do much more than sleep in your room.
I would recommend if you are going on a budget, and just need somewhere to sleep for the night and don't plan on spending too much time in the room.

South Hampton Guest House - ok
Advantages: Reasonably Priced
Disadvantages: Very Small Rooms
My partner and I stayed at the South Hampton Guest House for a weekend in early 2006. We choose the property because it was reasonably close to the centre of Cambridge Township (about 15-20 minutes walk) and also for it's price. We paid £45/night for the two of us including breakfast. The general décor was nothing to marvel about, a bit pokey and very old fashioned. However, keeping in mind what we paid our stay was reasonable.

...small side. Ours was fitted with a double bed, a single chair, one bedside table, a small wardrobe with several drawers attached and a tv mounted on the wall. There was a little side tray containing tea, coffee milk and a few biscuits. There was very little room for much else and we had to store our 1 suitcase on top of the wardrobe. There was also an en suite with a toilet and shower.

PARADIS Found?
Advantages: Two Rosettes, comfortable
Disadvantages: A little Expensive
Duxford Lodge Hotel is situated just off the M11 between Cambridge and Saffron Walden, and a mere 20 minute drive from Stansted Airport. As well as offering just 15 ensuite bedrooms, it has a wonderful two rosette restaurant called Le Paradis which is attractive to both residents and locals. ...tight for cars to pass. Duxford is famous for the air museum although in all honesty I wouldn't choose it purely for its location; in our case, it was simply to have a get together. The picturesque village of Saffron Walden is not too far away, and an easy 15 minute drive from the hotel. There are a number of pubs close by, including the John Barleycorn, with its thatched roof, and dating back to 1660 (and where we had lunch seven years ago!)

Hotel Felix Cambridge - Great !
Advantages: Great food and accomodation, lots of facilities
Disadvantages: None
We recently stayed at the Hotel Felix in Cambridge for the weekend and we had such a fantastic time so i thought as no one had written a review yet that maybe i should be the first!. The hotel is really easy to find and its only about a mile from cambridge city centre..
Hotel Felix is a traditional, large victorian building on the outside but its really modern looking on the inside.

The hotel felix had many facilities including a large jacuzzi, health club, a spa and a lovely hair salon, there is also a large gym that has all of the latest excersise equipment and large plasma tvs you can watch or listen too while you are using the equipment which is really nice,
