Lovely Liverpool Lodgings!

Advantages: Clean comfortable, cheap, good location
Disadvantages: poor selection of drinks in bar, low standard of service

Hotel Campanile (a French chain) is now well established as a chain throughout the United Kingdom so when I was looking for a room at quite short notice in Liverpool I did not hesitate to reserve one here despite the fact that I had never stayed in one before.

Of the chain hotels which came up when I searched on the internet, this was the cheapest and the excellent location meant that I did not have to compromise. The main shopping ...
...would thoroughly recommend the Liverpool Campanile to anyone looking for reasonable priced, well-situated accommodtion in the city.

...the same rates as the Campanile and have had breakfast included in these rates without having been insulted once more by asking us for £6.25 each for breakfast the next morning. When we tried to check out of the hotel my father was charged £300 instead of the £262 my sister went to reception and asked what they were playing at as they had overcharged my father , she was informed by the deputy manager (bully boy in the making, although he had never ...
...that all four rooms would be charged £300. My sister disputed this and sent up to my room for an e-mail from the hotel that I had printed and brought along stating our room rates, even with this he still tried to talk my sister down and refused to refund my fathers money and still insisted that we would all be charged the new made up rates. My mother entered reception at this stage and tried to talk some sense into the deputy manager but he became ...

Meet England's most obnoxious deputy manager

Advantages: Central Location
Disadvantages: Everything especially the deputy manager

...occurrence whilst staying at the Campanile as you were constantly warned by posters dotted around the building that not only was the hotel not responsible for items stolen from the car park, but also from the ROOMS??? On the much awaited day of our departure, my father went to reception to pay his bill only to be overcharged by approximately £40 on the agreed price. I followed to make payment on my own bill and was greeted by the male deputy manager ...
...explained that this was not the price that had been agreed when I made the booking and showed a printout of the email which was addressed as having come from “Campanile Liverpool”. Apparently my booking had been made with an internet agent who did have allocated rooms at the hotel to sell and did have access to their system in order to make the booking but he claimed they were not responsible for the prices quoted. I couldn’t believe what I was being ...

Great but watch that phone bill !

Advantages: Location (trust me)
Disadvantages: phone charges

The Liverpool Campanile is great and it's cheap. The setting seems to be poor at first glance but don't be fooled. There are two great places to eat around here, one is in the hotel itself: a small range but well prepared. The other might astonish you: there is a naff looking pub across the road which has won national awards for its 'home' cooking. If you can bear to walk half a mile, then the Albert Dock awaits with a fine selection of eateries. ...
...hotel has two downsides. The first is that I was stung on my phone bill: local rate (ie 0845) calls are charged long distance. Don't surf the internet here. And second - how shall I put this - the walls are a bit thin. I was woken up every 40 minutes one night by a couple who must have been olyimpic gymnasts. Or wrestlers. Or both. In short, a fine hotel, right on the docks. Its convenient for town and its friendly. ...

City with a Real Mersey Beat

Advantages: A surprisingly happening place which will knock your socks off
Disadvantages: A weekend won't be enough!

is ideally situated for access to the main city centre area and also the visitor and leisure attractions of the Albert Dock. The Feathers Hotel on Mount Pleasant is a mid-range hotel and is situated just a short walk (up the hill) from Lime Street Station and the main shopping area. The Campanile is a budget hotel chain and the Liverpool hotel is situated almost opposite the Albert Dock and shares it's site with the equally good value Formule 1. A double room in the Campanile will set you back around 30 pounds a night and breakfast is extra at a fiver a head. So, you've got somewhere to stay - what is there to do? Where do I start? I suppose the Albert Dock is as good a place as any. The Dock is just one of the success stories in the regenration of Liverpool and this area is one of the most cosmopolitan parts of town. You ...
