A Tour of La Tour

Advantages: Great views, beautiful at night
Disadvantages: Not good if you're frightened of heights, there are better views of the city,

around a corner and the Tour Eiffel stood majestically before him. Ah oui... Histoire de la Tour Eiffel There's something magical about the Tour Eiffel. It's become the symbol of Paris, the symbol of France itself, and yet it was never meant to stand for more than a year. It was originally supposed to be erected in Barcelona, but plans designed by Gustave Eiffel were rejected. Construction finally began in Paris, where the tower was to create an entrance archway for the Exposition Universelle in 1889. 120 years later...and the Eiffel Tower continues to stand the test of time, despite being branded an eyesore by many of the great French names of the day. One of its greatest critics was Guy de Maupassant, the French writer who allegedly dined at one of the Eiffel Tower's restaurant every day as it was the only place in Paris where he ...

The Eiffel Tower

Advantages: cheap to visit, great views of paris, one of the most popular attractions
Disadvantages: lengthy queues

If you visit Paris its almost rude not to go up the Eiffel tower. Those of you who have read my other reviews on Paris will know I went there last summer for a few days??and yes I did venture up the Eiffel tower. History: The Eiffel tower was built by the contractor Gustave Eiffel in 1889 and is 118 years old. It took only two years two months and five days to build, which is quite remarkable considering the height of the tower, the weight of the metalwork used and the fact that it was only 1889! There is an exhibition marking the building work of the tower on one of the levels and this is well worth a look, although I can't remember which level it is on. My opinion: I thought it was great and really good value for money, however it has since been named top of the list in a poll of the worlds most disappointing tourist spots ...

Review of Tour Eiffel, Paris

so symbolic, great view of Paris!

Advantages: such an iconic monument, great view of Paris
Disadvantages: long line to go up using the elevator, a little expensive

If you go to Paris, I highly recommend going to see the Eiffel tower. You can have a great view of the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadero where you can see the gardens and the Tower at the end, to me it's the best view of the Tower you can have. Indeed, it's so big that you can't have that kind of view from up close. When you get to the Tower, you can either go up by taking the stairs or by taking the elevator to the middle of the tower.Once you are there, you can take an elevator to the top (no stairs go up, only an elevator). Is the elevator worth it? it's up to you, it's fairly expensive for an elevator ride and the line can be a bit long but it will save you a lot of time and energy, especially if you are with children or older people, it's quite a hike by stairs and you don ...
