We were about to take our second year of C&C Club membership and decided on a booking for a late holiday with the club site at Scarborough. We were unable to book via the club website as it instructed us to call the site directly. We rang the site to make our booking for a 7-night stay costing £16.35 per night (caravan, awning & electric minus our 'club member' and 'over 60s' discounts)......pretty pricey we thought for late season but, so what, we thought we'd book! Then we were told that they could not take a booking without a deposit via Debit Card even though we were fully-paid-up members of the club. We told them that we do not give our card details over the phone to anyone (as we are all being told by our Banks etc). Their tone then became very abrupt and we were basically told 'don't bother turning up'. Needless to say, we then hung up the phone and rang the customer services department of the C&C Club. Yes, you guessed it....the same abrupt tone and a very couldn't-give-a-darn attitude. We asked for our membership to be cancelled there and then and they obliged without any question. I had to have a chuckle to myself when I gave the membership number and saw their slogan 'the friendly club'. Some good did come of this as we found another site (privately-owned) with a friendly, accomodating owner just 400 yards up the road from the original site......and saving over £4 a night. So, thank you C&C Club you have saved us £35 a year in membership fees because of your 'unfriendly club'.
