Will Get Wet...May Get Soaked

Advantages: Lots of different attractions
Disadvantages: A bit downmarket in places

Niagara has long been on my 'to do' list, so I was happy for my departure from Mexico to coincide with a stop-over in Toronto and, thus, a trip to the falls. I was lucky to be taken there by a friend I made on my Christmas tour of Costa Rica. As Toronto residents for about 6 years, she and her mother had been there before, but not for some time, and were happy to return. I had originally planned to take a one-day guided tour from Toronto, which would ...
...round the tower and onto Niagara Parkway where I could finally hear, if still not see, the falls. We passed the Casino, and then stumbled upon the 'Falls and Firkin' which I just had to take a picture of - those firkins get everywhere! There is a walkway that takes you to the incline railway for access to the lower level, and though it takes barely a minute (57 seconds, in fact), I was very happy to go on this since I'm a sucker for any kind of funicular ...

Bobcaygeon - and the Kawartha Lakes Area

Advantages: small town based on tourism
Disadvantages: hard to go home after you visit! (how do you think I wound up here!)

My Grandmother first traveled through Bobcaygeon with her cousins a little more than 45 years ago, fell in love with the area and bought a piece of property where she and my Grandfather built our cottage. At first, it was a vacation home but then, she told me, she just couldn't bear going back to the city anymore and moved up full time. Through my lifetime, I have move around southern Ontario a lot. Every time, however, it seems I wind up back in ...
...that draws me in. The people here are wonderful and friendly, and the area is full of breathtaking natural beauty. Bobcaygeon is home to about 3,000 permanent residents and around 12,000 live in the surrounding area. We are a small community oriented town, in the heart of the City of Kawartha Lakes located just 200 kms North East of Ontario's capital of Toronto. Since Bobcagyeon is only an hour and a half journey from Toronto, I find this location ...

Part 1. A canadian adventure

Advantages: clean air, amazing scenery, real wild wildlife, music, the people
Disadvantages: it's a long way from home

I have recently returned from my latest trip to Canada and already it feels like it was years ago. I arrived at Calgary into the nearly finished, almost total rebuild of the airport complex, though still in the middle of work, with typical Canadian efficiency there were no delays, I took the bus from outside arrivals which runs direct to Calgary centre or to Calgary transit LRT station at Whitehorn (about 5min). The trains are similar to those ...
...litter and graffiti free and clean, this takes about 15-20 minutes to the centre of Calgary though the bus goes to the same destinations the train journey is twice as fast. Once in Calgary proper there is no end of things to do and be amused by, there is of course the normal plethora of tourist traps and big chain coffee houses etc.. The streets are very user friendly with pedestrian right of way at most junctions and street maps on almost every ...

A Rockie town

Advantages: Popular town in winter and summer
Disadvantages: Expensive and loads of tourista

Banff in Alberta, Canada is set in the heart of the Banff National Park, surrounded with the Rocky Mountains, some of which are Sulphur mountains, Mount Rundle, Mount Norquay and Cascade Mountain. It is popular both summer and winter, and some of the hotels make provision for storing skis and snowboards. There are many restaurants with all tastes catered for, and for those who haven't tired themselves out touring the surrounding countryside there ...
...to the TransCanada Highway, between Banff and Lake Louise. There are lots of shops encouraging you to spend your dollars, tempting fudges, warm clothing for exploring the mountains, sports equipment, designer bags and cases. Loads of shops selling postcards, touristy presents and a shop of Christmas items. But not everyone likes shopping so you can learn more about the area by visiting a museum or several museums. These days most things are expensive ...

I moved to Nova Scotia on my own at 18 and fell in love!

Advantages: the people and the land make the place what it is, its a stunny place to be.
Disadvantages: Very widespread, and little Sunday shopping

What do you think of when you consider Nova Scotia? This is what i knew before i moved there.........it was far away from home! The thing about Canada is general is that it is a bit of a sleeping giant. the country is huge, and i think most Canadians don't know how big it really is, but on the East coast you will find Canada's Ocean Playground, Nova Scotia. The capital of NS is Halifax, the city i lived in for 5 years. Halifax is the main hub of ...
...ocean sweeping into the amazing harbour, and a downtown area that is vibrant, funky and caters to all ages. The province itself though simply follows suit. It has so much going for it, and it is all done in the Nova Scotian way. Relaxed, manored and with a good sense of honour. You won't go there for a long day of shopping. There are a few malls scattered around, but nothing to write home about. The people; however, are the main attraction. Nova ...
