When you arrive and are driving from the airport to your hotel, the ocean view is beautiful. The lagoon on one side and the ocean on the other. First impressions are of a relaxing clean environment. From speaking to others whilst on holiday, the hotel you pick can either make or break your holiday. Some of the hotels are spectacular with all the amenities you could ever want or need. Others have the main facilities and although are still very nice, they are not quite as grand and luxurious as others. The big issue and difference in the hotels is the quality and choice of the food. The majority of the hotels offer All Inclusive, but if you are not happy with the meals provided then this can seriously affect your budget as eating out is expensive. Cancun is very beautiful at the moment but certain areas are destroyed by looking like a building site and there seems to be a lot of development going on which in my opinion will ruin the area - more mainland spain than tropical paradise. There is a great bus service which runs all night and follows the hotel route right along and is very cheap. Overall Cancun is a beautiful place but to be honest maybe not worth the amount of money. If you are looking for a tropicalparadise then this is not it, but if you like the tourist areas in Spain and have a lot of money then you will love it.

I went to Cancun a couple of years ago and it was the best holiday I've had. There is so much of interest to see and do in the area, it would have been good if you had mentioned some of these, like the Mayan ruins, the eco-park and all that sort of thing.
