I think Cancun is a lovely place. Before booking and getting upset by what you see, remember this is a PURPOSE BUILT resort!!!!! The hotels are set each side of a road, with the lagoon on one side and the carribean sea on the other. The beach is EXTREMELY clean, with soft white sand and clear blue sea. A breathtaking view!!! Most hotels are all inclusive, which would be the best option, as it is expensive to eat out. A lot of Americans are attracted here, mainly because the drinking age is lower here. But again, this is mentioned in the brochure when booking. Although this isn't a cultural experience, it is warm, gorgeous and relaxing. There are trips available. We went swimming with dolphins, which is a wonderful experience. This can be done at the nearby waterpark (as we did), or at Xcaret. If you choose the waterpark, you pay for the swim and get free access to the water park for the rest of the day. A visit to XCARET is a must. It is a large ecological park, which also looks at the old Mayan culture. It close to the sea and has caves which you can swim through. A brilliant full day out. Very hot though, so it's nice to have the caves to swim through and the sea nearby. If you just want to relax there are hammocks etc. You can see parrot and horse shoes aswell. An excellent experience We didn't do any more trips, so i'm not sure what else is available.
We stayed in the Tucancun hotel. It's 3*, and all inclusive. Food was a mixture of fruit, breads, cereals, eggs, etc for breakfast. We only ate lunch in the pool bar which was Nachos and cheese (hmmm), chips burgers etc, and the evening meal was a mixture of meats, vegs, salad and lots of RICE!! There were 2 other restaurants - an Italian (lovely) and Mexican. The hotels generally cater for American not English tastes, so bear that in mind, if you find that a problem. The hotel was lovely - seconds from the beach with 3 large pools and amazing entertainment from Rudy!!!! Rooms with air conditioning, kingsize bed and view of the sea. All in all a wonderful holiday!! There may be a lot of Americans (but you aren't in England), and it is a resort built for tourists, so most items are overpriced. The buses are excellent though and are about 50p, for a journery of any distance up and down the main strip. Relax and enjoy!! If it upsets you becuase of the tourists or brash Americans, then don't go there, stay at home!
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Cancun. We never go anywhere twice, because there are too many places to sea. However, I think we may be making an exception on this one!

HI, I have always wanted to go to cancun, can you put a bit more detail in the review, as to where abouts you stayed in cancun, which hotel, what price you paid. Info on the trips offered, and quality of them if you did any. Anything like that would be good, I have heard lots of mixed things about cancun.
