Entertainment at Canifor was very limited, and of an amateur standard, however local bars were very reasonable and alternative entertainment was easily found.
Sightseeing tours were best booked at local outlets, and very reasonably priced, Malta has so much history, we have to go back as there is so much more we want to see. My daughter and her friend are studying archaeology, and Malta was an ideal location for their holiday.

We spent the first two weeks of August in 2006 at Hotel Canifor. We were on an all inclusive basis booked through Chevron Holidays. We flew with BA, excellent flight, service and inflight refeshments. The hotel is clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. Although it is a 4star hotel, I think that it would rate 3 stars in the UK. The lifts appeared to have a life of their own, the engineer was seen a few times; luckily they never broke down while we were on board. Our double room had a very small ensuite with a shower, WC and wash basin, while my daughter and her friend had a large twin bedded room with an average sized bathroom consisting of a bath with shower, a WC and wash basin. Both rooms had a refidgerator, hair dryer, tv, safe deposit box, much needed air conditioning, and large ceiling fan. Our room had a large secluded balcony overlooking the road, while our daughter's balcony overlooked the pool area, both balconies were equiped with a table and chairs. Rooms were cleaned daily. The outdoor swimming pool was small, but deep, with a seperate childrens area, there was never a problem finding a sun bed. There was also an indoor pool below the hotel and a jacuzzi and sun terrace on the roof, however, we did not find time to use either of these. I have sensitive skin, and the salt water pool did not cause me a problem. The meals served in the restaurant became repetitive, but bar snacks, eg burger & chips, toasted sandwiches etc, were available over the bar between 10am and 3pm. There was also a pizzaria, where all inclusive guests could get free drinks on a Sunday, but had to pay for the rather nice Italian food. I was sad that the all inclusive drinks did not include Pernod or similar, but other than that, we made excellent use of this facility!! We ate out three times, and local restaurants were plentiful and the ones we used were good value for money. There were no beaches as such, and as a result I do not feel that Malta is not a very suitable holiday venue for small children. I would advise future guests to the Hotel Canifor to remember that you get what you pay for, and this is a very good value budget holiday.
Advantages: Hot sunshine and scenery Disadvantages: Grubby Hotel and poor service, dirty resort
I have just spent 2 weeks in Malta with my family. We have stayed at the 4 star CaniforHotel in Quawra and we were very disappointed with the service we have received at the hotel.
The pool and sunterrace had to be vaccated by 4.30pm on a saturday afternoon due to a private function leaving the paying holidaymakers without the pool and sunterrace. Karoke music blarring until the early hours of the morning. The indoor pool had a foul smell and nobody would use it. The outdor pool was hardly ever cleaned and had a big scummark around the pool wall. Glasses were left around the pool area which is hazardaous to children and guests. The lifts in the hotel were often not working. Staff at the Hotel are very unfriendly and not helpful at all. Waiters in the dining-room were shouting at each other and the whole atmosphere was very unrelaxing ...
