Disadvantages You need to use your imagination
If you can't get to Bodiam, Canterbury Castle is well worth a look. It is not very far away from the centre of town and is one of the quieter visitor attractions. Best of all, you can enjoy it for FREE which is always a bonus in my book. It is interesting if you have the time to walk round the town to see the role the castle would have played in the city's defences as parts of the old city wall are still standing. It is a very peaceful spot and a lovely place to have a picnic away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. In the summer, there have been plays performed amongst the castle ruins which have lent a really fascinating quality to the performance.
