beauty of its coastline, with its picturesque corners, its coves of fine white sand bordering transparent waters, and the balmy sunny climate make Porto Colom an idea...

change every few days and so there are always alterations to the menu. I would avoid the grotty chinese underneath them as they have a bad habit of smoking over the food as they are preparing it and the kitchen backs on to where the bins are kept. There is nice family run pizza joint which is very similar to Pizza Express just across the road though and a choice of greasy spoons in the plaza access route is to the left of Mar Blau if you are facing the Harbour. The fact that PortoColom can probably be covered by foot in 30 minutes means you have time to scope out the best places for yourself.
The hotels in the area are great. There's not a bad thing to say about any of them. The rooms are clean and trust me I saw a fair few during my time living out there. Everything is clean and nobody can do enough for you. It's good to get onside ...

We have just returned from a Week-end in Porto.
We were looking for a Hotel that had good location and some olde world charm, so this one seemed to tick the boxes.
We booked it thru Octopustravel.com for £165 that being for a Double Room with Buffet Breakfast for three nights (About £27 per person per night B&B).
Getting to the Hotel from the Airport can not be easier. You get the Metro from the Airport, you can not get on the wrong one as that is the start of the line, no changes necessary just stay on unti the BOLHAO stop (approx 25 mins) cost 1 Euro 85 Cents (purchase ticket from Tourist Info Booth in arrival hall, or if braver from the Ticket Machines in the Metro (Do have an English Button) for instructions.
At the Bolhao stop come up into the Street Opposite a large Church With Blue Tiles, turn corner about 90 yards ...
Advantages: Great location Disadvantages: Not that family friendly
The Radisson SAS Waterfront was a great hotel situated on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, with views of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Robben Island and Table Mountain. The hotel was just on the edge of the town centre. Most hotels are located around the Victoria and Alfred waterfront complex and, as such, have particularly steep prices. The Radisson was walking distance to the V&A waterfront but did not suffer from extortionate prices (our room came in at about £70 a night). It had a sizeable car park and was well situated for driving down the coast of Cape Town.
At the time of booking, we were not offered a choice on rooms so ended up with a basic room only. This was fine but we missed out on views of the harbour that could be seen from rooms at the back of the hotel. The room was spacious (approx 36 sq meters) with a king size ...
