A must-do in Cape Town
Review of Balthazar Restaurant by ladymisskat

Advantages: Great Location, Fantastic food, Amazing wine list
Disadvantages: None

Balthazar is located in the Victoria waterfront and is soo good we went back twice! The location is really good, a large shopping mall with various shops (Diesel, Miss Sixty, Pick and Pay, Chemist, BodyShop etc). We paid our first visit after taking the trip over to Robben Island, and wanted to sit and look over our photos over a nice meal. After wandering along the waterfront for a while, we finally settled on Balthazar, without even looking at ...
...served 600 wines - 147 by the glass! We got a table outside and were offered bread and some kind of sausage in a tomato sauce, which were greatly wolfed down! The menu is surf and turf, but they do have some good salads too. As there were 4 of us dining I think we tried everything on the menu (apart from dessert - far too full) and I wuold recommend EVERYTHING! The creamed spinach was too die for! We also had a thing called an onion blossom or ... Read review

Theo's, Camps Bay
Review of Theo's Restaurant, Cape Town by EllieBelle

Advantages: wonderful food, great atmosphere, reasonable prices
Disadvantages: can get very busy during the summer

Theo's Restaurant is located on the seafront in Cape Town's premier location, Camp's Bay. This fantastic restaurant is renowned for it's seafood (having won best seafood restaurant several years running), and hangs it's own meat for top quality steaks. It has an extensive menu, serving everything from homemade burgers and pasta dishes to seasonal game and fresh line-caught fish. There is also a childrens menu offering quality food rather than the ...
...With it's seafront location, Theo's is perfect for a tasty bite to eat after a day on the beach, with a parasol-covered outside area, and with a cosy interior for night time dining. The staff are extremely helpful and always strive to meet your requirements. Booking is not necessary during the day but may be advisable in the evening during peak season, although they will always try to fit you in. The dress code is typically South African - casual, ... BAIA Seeing is believing
Review of baia Seafood Restaurant by KELLYLOUJ

Advantages: Amazing Seafood Dishes, Value for money
Disadvantages: Can be busy on weekends prebooking advised

...boyfriend and I decided on BAIA for his birthday where we would have the full works. Located in the Victoria Wharf, Victoria and Albert Waterfront this is easily accessible from nearby hotels and there are plenty of taxi services to drive you there should you not fancy the walk. BAIA (known as bay) Is a seafood resaurant although there is not just seafood dishes to choose from as there is a wide menu ranging from oysters, lobster, langoustines, ...
...wine we also had. Baia is open for both Lunch (12PM-3PM) and Dinner (7pm-11pm). We passed this restaurant a few times before and it always looked busy and I have always gone on the impression that if the restaurant is busy then it must be a good choice so we decided to prebook as we were visiting on the weekend, on the night we made our visit is was fairly busy and it was a relief that we had booked. This restaurant is very cosmpolitan and was ... Read review

Key to the Sea
Review of Quay4 Restaurant by KELLYLOUJ

Advantages: Views, Atmosphere, Prices
Disadvantages: None that come to mind

Quay 4 is located on the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town and is one of oldest restaurants on the Quay Front and won te Most popular waterfront restaurant in 1999. The Tavern/Brasserie does not look too appealing from the outside as the entrance is down a narrow path inbetween the shops on the quay front. There is a security card on the doors during the opening hours and completes a brief search with a metal detector so this does make me feel slightly ...
...the atmosphere is so friendly and the bar staff stock almost every drink and are pros at making cocktails to order! We visited Quay four a number of times and on the first visit we were going in just for a drink and the prices again were relatively low and am sorry I can't remember to put them into the review and after searching the site there are no prices listed but I have managed to find the menus. The tavern indoors plays host to live events ... Read review

Belter of a Restaurant
Review of Balthazar Restaurant by KELLYLOUJ

Advantages: Amazing food, low prices, relaxed atmosphere
Disadvantages: Service slightly slow in the evening, can get really busy on weekends

I did request this restaurant to complete a review on Ciao and spelt it wrong!! It is actually BELTAZAR RESTAURANT and won Best Steakhouse in Cape Town last year in 2004 and believe me there are a lot to choose from. Beltazae is the largest wine bar in the World and the glasses are one of the largest I have ever experienced when eating out and with a wine to suit everyone's taste this is the perfect place to eat out in Cape Town if you are visiting ...
...for lunch and once for an evening meal and both times we were completely stuffed! The same menu is used throughout the day and consists of Starters, Salads, Grills, House Specialities, Poultry, Seafood and Desserts. On the first visit we sat outside with underneath a parasol and with a heater as the weather was not the hottest but it was still a plesant day to sit out. We were greeted immediately by a waiter who came over with freshly baked bread ... Read review
