Advantages: great place, very near Miami Disadvantages: none
...This party Key is located just off the Grove- Coconut Grove to those not in the know. It's not actually attached to the rest of the key chain. It lies right off the coolest area in South Miami and is accessable by the Bay Bridge (over Biscayne Bay).
If you're headed out that way, stop off at the Planetarium or the Museum of Science by the Miami side of the bridge. Viscaya, a European-style stately home, is also in that area. All are certainly worth visiting. There's also great shopping at the Bayside complex.
On the other side of the bridge is the seaquarium. And, of course, miles of sandy beaches with permanant grills set up all over the place. The weather is always hot there and there's an excellent breeze off the water. It's a young person's hang-out, so there's always lots to do and look at!...

Advantages: Great beaches, nightlife and shopping Disadvantages: it can be expensive
...of the art deco district, one block from the beach. We managed to bag a discount and got the rooms for £30 per room per night, and it had a bar, restaurant, and a small pool (a rarity for Miami hotels).
***Cocktails or a cup of hot coco?***
Miami is hot hot hot! Temperatures average at about 75-90 Fahrenheit (25-30 Celsius) year-round. The water is warm, refreshing and clear. Hurricane season is from August to November, and if you are visiting over the summer months, prepare for a short sharp shower in the afternoon, (Florida is the lightning capital of the world!) but this soon passes and it is back to glorious sunshine.
***Getting out and about***
As we do not drive, car hire was out of the question. However, it was extremely easy for us to get around as we stayed in the heart of the attractions. We flew into Miami International Airport, one...

Advantages: beautiful, More Rio than American Disadvantages: some places very dangerous
...Miami is full of colour, the pier leading to the edge of this city is full of striking american 50's and 60's architecture, in bright vibrant colours. This city does not seem part of America but more representative of the Latin Cuban peoples who dominate the city and it posesses that sultry seductiveness of the South Americas than the developed US of A. The people walk around with an air of machismo and bravado, and the materialism that capitalism induces is flaunted to a style, people look good! There is a feel to the mainly tourist, or richer parts of a community rather than the inward looking ways of commuters and those at work. However as in most american cities the more you venture from the safe areas the more exciting it gets. Mainly because it is scary, downtown maimi has a kind of abandoned feel that leaves you feeling very...

I’m such a perfume fiend, I love to try anything new that’s doing the rounds, so this was no different. I’d first seen this advertised on the TV, and to be honest I didn’t really given it a second glance, because I remembered how much I hated J Lo Glow,... more
