I holiday in Marmaris every year, and have done for the past 5 years in a row. The beach in marmaris is a great place to tan, but not such a great place if you want peace and quiet.
The many bars and restaurants along the beach give you a great selection of afternoon refreshments whilst on the beach, and if you use one of them, they will give you free sunbeds all day.
A short walk from the sunloungers is the crystal blue sea which is great for paddling, or if you fancy having a swim.
At night the beach really hots up with all the bars restaurants and clubs coming to life with foam parties and various bar crawls that are organised daily. ...

Icmeler beach the perfect place to soak up the mediterranean sun.
Plenty of sunbeds to lounge around and beautiful clear sea. Very nice sand/small shingle beach but always very very clean. They take excellent care of the beach and it is cleaned and raked every night. Plenty of room around your sunbed for the kids to play. Nice enclosed bay with clearly marked swimming areas so no danger of getting in the way of the activities that you can do - para-sailing, crayzee ringos, pedalos, boat trips. The sea is normally calm and excellent for swimmers of all standards with nice shallow water close to the beach but the further out it gets very deep very quickly. You can always hop on the water taxi to Marmaris for a day out or go on one of the orgasised boat trips that are readily available from the seafront. Sunbeds are cheap ...

***BEACHES***
If you're planning on visiting Marmaris for its beaches, I would advise you not to: you'll find better. The sand is black sand, and is slightly gritty, making it a little uncomfortable for walking on barefoot or for sunbathing. However, you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas for a small fee which should make you more comfortable! Despite the beaches not being amazing, the sea, on the other hand, is. The water is perfectly clear and fairly warm, making it ideal for a relaxing swim - take my word for it!
