If you visit Corfu on your holdai and you want to experience a brilliant unforgettable day out, then Captain Theo's Cruise is for you.
Captain Theo and his two brothers Costas and Dimitris have been running this trip for over 25 years and have been constant award winners in their field.
Myself, my husband and two children booked this up at our Welcome Meeting with Thomsons, it can also be booked through Airtours and Apollo Holidays. It cost us around £40-45 for the four of us which I thought was good value for a day out where you were going to be fed and watered also within the price.
The Cruise left for us from Corfu Town, it does also depart from Ipsos and Kavos too. There were two boats, the elder of the groups boarded one boat and the families and younger ones boarded the second. On boarding
the boat you were welcomed by the one and only Captain Theo who was a jolly middle aged man who made you feel like he had known you for years. On board the boat there were toilets and a refreshment bar where you could purchase beers, wines, juices, water and lovely great fat doughnuts (these were extras, but the price was very reasonable). The enjoyment started immediately for the children and they grouped together at one end of the boat for fun and games. There was ample seating on the boat for everybody and as we left the harbour Theo introduced himself and the crew with a few jokes thrown in and a few attractions were pointed out amid the laughter. It didn't take too long into the cruise for the children to appear armed with water and foam and totally attacking all us unsuspecting adults, but everybody joined in and we had a great laugh. Music filled the boat and everybody was singing and having water fights and acting no better than the kids.
As it approached lunchtime we stopped at a bay known as Limnopoula (close to Kassiopi). The bay was filled with sunbeds but not a soul was to be seen, nor a building or anything except this deserted beach. The boat moored a little way out, but a bridge was placed down for us to reach the beach. Whilst moored here, everyone was diving from the boat into the crystal waters, the beach was so clean and the sea was as clear as tap water. Theo and his crew set up the barbecue here, and hey what a barbie it was, the food was delicious with steaks, chops, sausages and all the other norm babrbie meat, there was salads galore, potatoes everything you could want and tons of it, you just kept going back as much as you wanted and it just never run out. Nor did the wine, this was bought out in the barrel load as well as juice and water and again you just kept going back for more and it never run out. We had around and hour's sunbathing after lunch and the kids went off up one end of the beach playing games again but in their element.
Once aboard the boat again the fun and games started, and Theo's other boat sided up to us and then the battles began between the two boats, and the elder one's were loving it, everything and everyone were soaked, but everybody was in high spirits and thoroughly enjoying themselves, there was fun galore and everybody joined it, nobody was forced but you just wanted to.
Our next stop was a bay at Calami, here we had the traditional champagne dives, but the water here was the deepest turquoise I had ever seen, it was also highly salted and you could just float on it, you could either dive in here or go down the many ladders at the side of the boat, but this was water you had to get into it just invited you.
Theo also got the old Banana Boats out which you could all go on if you wanted.
Throughout the day there was no a moment of gloom it was just a fantastic, fabulous experience and I would recommend anybody who goes to Corfu to go on this trip. Be warned though, it get's so booked up, it will probably be the second week of your holiday that you go on it, this is a good thing though, as it gives you a chance to get your base tan before spending a day in the hot sun on a boat. Take plenty of sun lotion though and definitely your cameras to capture the antics on board.
This is definitely an unmissable trip, we all enjoyed it immensely and the kids still say its the best day out they have had, if it beats Chessington and Alton Towers can I say anymore.
If you want to see more about this trip, Theo has a Website where you can see the pictures of the boats, photos of the events that take place and comments from others that have been on his trips, its worth a look, the address is www.captaintheocorfu.net.
