On our holiday to Kefalonia we were hoping to Visit Ithaka, a small island just off the coast.
So we were delighted to find that we had the option of a trip to ithaka on a Glass Bottom Boat that would leave from the Beach just in front of the Hotel, so only ablut 40 yards from our breakfast table.

trips to Ithaka take place of Tuesdays and Fridays, my daughter Katherine went to book, they advised Tuesday the less crowded day, due to changeovers etc.
So we opted for the Tuesday, cost is 30 Euros per adult.

The Boat leaves at 09:00 and comes right up to the beach for boarding, we monitored the process for the previous day and worked out if we went down about 08:45 good chance we would be first in the queue to board.

It worked out just fine, so up onto upper deck and sat in the best 4 deck chairs facing forward.

The upper deck has place for 42, but Chris the first mate explained that if it got rough this is reduced to keep the boat stable. No problem today very calm.

There were only abot 40 on our trip, Fridays is quite often abou 100, so the Tuesday advice worked well.

The boat is quite high powered which I prefer, chugging slowly passed coast lines can be a bit boring.

After about 45 mins we reached our first swim stop, this is in a small bay just before the capital Vathy.
You get about 30 mins, jsut right for the swimmers, not too long for the others who can go into the main cabin where the Glass Panels on the bottom of the boat can be viewed.

You then sail into Vathy a very pretty Horseshoe harbour. Here you get nearly about 2 Hours to wander etc, plenty of little shops, bakeries and drink options.
There is a small Museum and one of the smallest Churches which Chris sets a challenge to find.

Back on the Boat to and about 30 mins to the small port Kioni, another beautiful arrival, it is here for the Lunch break. About 1 Hour 45 mins.
There are about 6 Tavernas around the small harbour.
I thought there would be a bit of Touting for business.
But NO there was not, all the owners seemed to stand back and let you make your choice, almost as if there was an unwritten agreement so that all got some business.
We had lunch at the mythos Taverna, and enjoyed sitting by the water side, looking at the Fish swimming by.
3 little local boys playing with an empty plastic bottle, no needs for Nintendos here,

Back on the Boat and 20 mins last another lovely bay with a swim break.

Then back to Skala for about 16:30.

A beautiful day out.

Two days a week they do a trip to Fiskardo on Kefalonia. The other day a trip to Zante.
As the season progresses they have Evening BBQ Trips.
Highly recommended.

You can buy cans of drinks on board, which were not too expensive, but most bring their own water and take other drinks at the stopping off points.
