We rented a Renault Megane Scenic type people carrier car for £129 for the week, including half a tank of petrol, which we were to top up and return to the same and 2 free booster seats for our two young children.
2007 and the operator although still branded as Carjet is now using local firm Goldcar Europa - previously the supplier was Crown. I believe this may simply be a re-branding of the original company, but they have used the opportunity to add costs to what was a previously inclusive service. We travelled to Malaga mid-August this year and hired our car for 1 week. This year we opted for a diesel estate as we had more luggage and the car we'd used in 2006 (a Ford C-Max) was not very good at dealing with long slow hills! The 2007 Ford Focus diesel estate proved to be more suitable for our needs.
-Booking on-line- We attempted to book our hire car online via the Carjet website: http://www.carjet.es/ The site is fairly simple to use - you set yourself up with a username and password and can set up quotes prior to your final choice to get a feel for the pricing and which car you might chose. Each quote is sent to your email address and given a code, so you can use that to book your final choice. We did however end up choosing a car that the web site advised was not available. The advice was to ring and book direct (a UK number was provided), which we did and we were able to book the car we required. This was confirmed to us via email. Please also note that you may not get the car you hire - you will be given something similar in size and grouping.
Once you have had your booking confirmed, you print out the email confirmation, which is also your car hire voucher and you take this to the car hire desk at the airport (or wherever your point of collection may be).
-Collection- We arrived at the airport just before lunchtime and our queue for Goldcar Europa was by far the longest! We eventually waited for just over 35 minutes before we were served. It took a further 20 minutes to get all the paperwork etc completed. We were hot and the children a bit restless to say the least by the time we set off to collect the car from the underground car park. The car was not in the parking bay we had been advised it would be and so we ended up using the remote locking to locate it!
-Cost- We paid £128 for 1 week's car hire for 2007. We had opted for a cheaper car (a diesel estate car rather than the larger people carrier). On top of that we had to pay 2 Euros per day for a booster seat (free in 2006). We also paid an additional insurance £15 to cover hub-caps and scrapes. We had to pay another 69 Euros for a full tank of diesel up front at the desk at the airport, which we were not aware of but only because we didn't read the booking form fully! This we didn't have to do in 2006.
-In summary- Service was satisfactory, the car was fine and we had no problems whilst on our holiday. Having said that, we didn't exactly travel around much, so had less risk of any on-the-road accidents or bumps whilst parked up. We had to pay up front for a full tank of diesel and so that added an extra cost that would have been good to manage ourselves! They are reasonable value for money as far as car hire companies go, but nothing to rave about. Check the small print for the hidden extras you have to pay on arrival to collect your car. I would shop around a bit before making your choice - if the quote is about the same, check out the extras - if they are free (child/booster seats, better insurance cover and filling up from empty with your own fuel requirement) go with an alternative company and write a review to let everyone else know you've found a good service!
Thanks for reading my review - I hope it was useful.
Advantages: Clear no hidden charges, simple booking system Disadvantages: Difficult to judge how little fuel left in tank
CarJet's web based car hire system is the best way to hire a car in spain. Just book online (you can pay on arrival if you want) and drop into the office at your destination airport. It's as simple as that.
I must admit I was impressed with the clear no nonsense web site which gave prices with no hidden extras. Bookings are confirmed by e-mail and you are sent a receipt and booking voucher which you present on arrival. Here is the web address http://www.carjet.com.
... ...cannot be this easy, I booked the smallest car available and Ford Ka for 13 days it cost £129, which is a really good deal. The only extra you pay is for a full tank of fuel, you bring the car back with as little fuel in it as possible, ok they make a bit on the remainder but who cares at Spanish prices. I needn't have worried everything went smoothly. The car was new and clean and all I had to do at the end of the hire period was park it in one ...

Advantages: Cheaper than other companies Disadvantages: Don't always get the car ordered.
I have used Car Jet.com twice now. The first time we hired a car from them and picked it up from Malaga airport.
We had booked a Ford Focus and that is exactly what we got.
My mum and dad asked me to book them a car and when they got to the same airport a day later, they didn't get the car they had originally chosen.
Apparently if that certain car isn't at the airport when you arrive they give you the nearest thing.
We also hired a car in March ... ...landed at our hotel and eventually got to bed at 3am. About 8am we were rudely awakened by the telephone ringing. It was the car hire company wanting us to go and collect the car.
They had sent a car and driver to collect us to get our hire car. This time we didn't get the car we had booked , but it was one just as good.
We paid for a Renault Clio with air conditioning , it cost £94 for one week. If you pay before a certain date ,you get 10% discount.

Advantages: New cars, no deposit, great VFM, pay on arrival Disadvantages: I can honestly say -NONE
...on several trips to Spain. CarJet themselves do not rent out any cars, instead they act as a broker and they use their local and industry knowledge to get you the best deal.
Bookings are made via their web site, which is in English. They have a full list of destinations and car types from a Clio right up to 7 seaters, converatbles and Mercedes. You just point and click and make the right combination for yourself in terms of dates, cars and locations. ... ...was very good.
The CarJet manager was an English gent, not that I ever needed to talk to them, but you can contact them by phone, fax, email or online chat. All requests were handled very quickly and I have recommended this firm to several friends who have found them to be first class too. ...

Advantages: Slick website to sucker you in Disadvantages: Hidden charges, especially fuel surcharge, poor sevice by car hire companies
We have used the CarJet hire car service many times from both Alicante and Murcia airports when we go to our little place in the sun. CarJet is in the business of providing one of the cheapest car hire options. Their website is great and we have never had any difficulies re payment and the many bookings, but beware of the optional extras and how they sucker you and me when you arrive at Alicante or Murcia.
CarJet operates by buying a number of block ... ...resells them to CarJet customers. They act as pimps and tout for business, never a problem if the whore is value for money, but like true pimps they never explain the true cost up front (ok, don't ask how I know). Since CarJet are simply selling bookings they are not interested in customer service or customer satisfaction.
The customer never knows which car hire company they will get until the booking is confirmed and some of the Spanish hire car ...
Advantages: Fantaastic website fantastic service - All together a pleasure Disadvantages: you may not get the car you book BUT will be as good if not better

Whilst this review is about Carjet.com which is a broker. I hired my car from Palma Airport and the hire company the broker had used was Europa Rent a Car. (See separate review for this). This review only really deals with Carjet.com website itself not the actual car I hired this is why I have written a seperate review for that.

Always one to be looking for a bargain I set about searching the net for the best ... ...to a friend and he recommended that I try www.carjet.com. So I did. He had used them many times and been highly happy with the service he had received and said that the prices were great.
So I tried them and got my car cheaper than any of the other sites I had tried. 123 Euros for the week for a Renault Clio with aircon in mid July - this I though was very acceptable and proceeded to book the car.

Advantages: Seeing 15,000bhp cars tear up the 1/4 in 5 seconds at 300mph Disadvantages: if it rains racing is called of untill they dry the track
forecast if it rains, i was caught out back in 2008 at flame and thunder when it rained and hardly any racing happended because it was simply to dangerous racing on a wet track but there were many other things to do there like see dirt bikes, drifters etc etc.
Jetcars are well known to pop up here and there at santapod. Basicly a almost rocket like car with a jet attached to the back which are a thrill to watch, Fire Force 3, Split Second and Firestorm are known very well at Santa Pod.

Advantages: none, not even cheep for the product Disadvantages: Car booked not available, company rep inflexible.
If you have a family and want and easy smooth trip, don't use Goldcar!
Just got back Sunday the 13 July 2008 we booked in advance with Goldcar via CarJet.com Travel network and agreed 7 day rental of a Renault Megane Scenic A/C (L) vehicle code ESP10 at 159.00 EUR to be collected from Palma Arrivals Hall Desk. This was for my wife a 2 yr old, a 4 yr old, my elderly father and myself. (3 adults 2 children.)
The Sting
Even though we confirmed availability and booked on line, when we showed the girl at the desk are printout at 11.30pm with 2 sleeping children she said NO! The booking is good but we do not have any big cars left! We only have a fiesta for you.
we explained that we had 3 adults 2 children 4 suite cases and hand luggage and all she could say was "head office in Spain is closed there is nothing I can do" "You can ...
Advantages: Local departures, cheap and cheerful Disadvantages: Expensive for food and drink onboard
I have used Jet2 on a number of occasions now. I have flown from Manchester to Murcia, Alicante and Prague with them.
I have always found the prices to be amongst the best around, especially if you are flexible with your dates. I have always booked my car hire through Jet2 and to date I have never managed to get it cheaper elseware.
Jet2 have their own check-in area at Manchester so I have never had to wait longer than 15 minutes to check- in even at peak times. They also seem to be able to get there planes off the ground on time aswell, I have never suffered any major delays with them, amybe 10 or 20 minutes at the most.
The online booking facility is excellent, You recieve your confirmation email straight away, this can be easily printed and acts as your travel documents.
There are a couple of minor bad points. I found ...
