I booked a car through the web page of Carjet (this is found at www.carjet.com and is in English) and was extremely happy with the pre visit service. By this I mean they confirmed by email and offered a helpline number in case of any changes. The price was a competitive one and all was well. Then I made a fateful decision to change the four seater car to a seven seater so I could fit my parents in rather than have a two car convoy in Spain! No problem, I simply emailed Carjet and they immediately replied saying they would check availability and get back to me. Less than 24 hours later a confirmation email arrived and I had hired a Ford Galaxy from a hire company called Europa.
At this stage I should make it clear that Carjet are an intermediary. They are simply a booking agency and will find a car with a variety of companies. If you don't want to use a particular hire company you must state this in advance. So feeling tired after a long Christmas in France I arrived at malagaairportready to collect my Ford Galaxy. This is where the crisis happened. They offered me an Opel Zafira. It is a seven seater car in theory although it is in a different group for pricing than the Galaxy. The lady on the Europa desk was having none of it and tried to convince me it was the same class and anyway they didn't have a Galaxy. I relented and went to collect the car. Then I changed my mind. The Zafira was dirty, scratch and dented, all of which I guess I could live with but the seat adjustment handles had all broken off and this was unacceptable. I went back down to the Europa desk and complained to a different lady. In the end she offered me a different car the Mercedes Vaneo. It looks like postman pats van but mine was silver! I accepted it simply because there seemed to be little choice.
Anyway back to Carjet I called them and was ready to give them serious earache but found a simple explanation was enough for a quick ready apology, an immediate agreement to refund the difference in price for the different class of vehicle, and an assurance that they would follow this up with Europa on my behalf. I got on with my visit. The mercedes broke down and fair enough Europa sent a replacement car out (a Zafira but not the knackered one mentioned earlier)
On my return to UK I found emails detailing the action taken by Carjet and urging me to check my credit card statement to ensure the refund had been paid. It had and I am happy to recommend Carjet with the caveat that if you have a bad experience with the actual car hire company (in my case Europa) make sure you stipulate that you don't want to use that company. I don't have their full range of prices but you can get them easily from the website mentioned earlier. My experience cost me the following: 9 days hire over new years eve in malaga for the Ford Galaxy was 501 Euro. They refunded me £117 for the down grade in class.
Don't trust Europa but do use Carjet!
