Helle Hollis car rental = best rent a car at the costa del sol
Advantages: Service, fair fuel policy, good cars
Disadvantages: pay extra for extra insurance

The staff, who by the way is very good in foreign languages, is always very helpful and friendly and taking their time to explain the insurance politics. Petsas - A Good Local Alternative for Car Hire in Cyprus
Advantages: Competitive rates. Good service and a well maintained, excellent selection of cars.
Disadvantages: Typically laid back Cypriot attitude. Need to haggle for best prices.

Ever been there? If the answer is 'no' then you are missing a wonderful experience. I have been there three times and each time discovered something new about the island. The Cretans (don't like the word but I guess its appropriate!) as such friendly people. I detected that they warm particularly to visitors from UK - we appear to treat the shopkeepers and hotel worker with respect which is not necessarily the case when it comes to other visitors ...
...- for example you can walk along a beach, but still have the mountains to one side and the sea to the other. The scenery is unbelievable - reminiscent of the absolute wild highlands of Scotland. The come across a mountain, traverse it (by car or bus) and around the corner is another one!
We have yet to find a town/place which is not appealing. Everywhere we have gone we have had a warm welcome. It is a value-for-money island and you will love the ...

Disadvantages: Staff, charging for damages you didn't cause, lateness, quality of vehicles
The van we hired was not ready when we arrived - 35 mins later a van was driven from another site. No markings to say it was 1car1. No idea where they got it from. It was then washed and checked in the garage. We weren't given the opportunity to check it
When we returned the van they tried to charge us for chips in the windscreen. These were so tiny I could barely see them. The person checking the car went straight to them, as if he already knew ...
