About two months ago my partner and I went on holiday to Italy. While discussing our holiday plans, my partner thought that hiring a car for our trip would be a good idea as it would give us greater freedom to explore. I needed a car for a business trip in Marseille, France for 5 days so I booked a car through cardelmar.co.uk 12 days in advance. When I made the reservation the email said that they had first to check the availability of the car and they will get back to me (why would they advertise for that car if they don't know if it's available in the first place ?!!!). After 5 days still no email or phone call to confirm the reservation so I repeatedly tried to call them and finally could reach them at 10p/min and I was told on the phone that the car was not available. We had reserved a car in the Renault Scenic class at cardelmar and received a voucher for Record Rent a Car in Palma de Mallorca. Service at the airport was unfriendly, but efficient. The car turned out to be a Tata Indigo. I was not even aware that Tata is selling cars in Europe. For somebody used to Western European cars, the Tata is a total joke: no radio, a motor that is so loud that you can hardly talk if you drive at the freeway at 100km/h, electric windows that do not close tightly, seats that hurt if you use the car for longer stretches,.... Cardelmar advertise no hidden charges. Europe car is their partner in Lanzarotte and are operating a con. Only on pick up and after youv'e paid do they tell you the terms and conditions, you take it full and bring it back empty. The charge is 59 euro's. Do the maths! Petrol is 0.95 euro's per litre, to fill a 44 litre tank from completely empty would be 41.8 euro's. For this they want to charge you 59 euro's. Thats rip off 1. Now rip off 2.
