Once we had checked in we proceeded to the 2nd floor where there is a waiting area and a number of other facilities. We headed straight to the most important – the bar. We were impressed that prices were similar to those inside a pub in Cardiff centre. As our flight would not serve a meal we also purchased snacks from the “upper crust” however we did find the prices there inflated.
When our flight was called we proceeded through to the departure lounge, security was tight which was reassuring however, the staff were fast and efficient whilst managing to remain friendly. Once in the departure lounge we again found a bar and settled down to wait for about an hour. There was a large duty free shop here too, however I did not make any purchases as I generally find that it is cheaper to buy at the other end.
When our flight was called we had a short journey to the departure gate where staff handled the boarding of the plane very well. Within a couple of hours of arriving at the airport we were safely installed on a plane making plans for our weekend.
4 days later a lot poorer, very worn out, but sporting healthy looking tans (to hide how ill we were still feeling from hangovers) we arrived back in Cardiff. Our luggage was coming down the luggage rack within 10 minutes of us leaving the plane. We had one scary moment when it appeared like a case was missing but it appeared on the rack later. One quick journey through customs and we were in the arrivals area looking for our lifts home.
Enough of my reminising, I’d better give you some more info about the airport. I would recommend Cardiff Airport to anyone travelling away this year however realistically its only of use if this is your nearest airport.

Advantages: Convenient, limited flights and destinations Disadvantages: Expensive flight supplements, poor at handling out of the ordinary situations
...will probably agree, flying from Cardiff is extremely handy, and avoids those nasty treks to Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester. For daytime flights, the likes of Airtours and Britannia can charge horrendous flight supplements, often as much as £80/£100 per person for daytime flights, somewhat less for night-time flights (flying I loathe at the best of times, flying at night.....enough said). First time I flew from Cardiff my initial reaction to my ... ...pulled out of flying from Cardiff altogether, although they still have a depot there.
Servisair are the baggage handlers at Cardiff, and I must say are quite a snooty bunch, although when flying with BMI Baby, I noticed we were processed by Aviance who were friendly, humerous and actually quite entertaining, I am not sure whether they are solely for BMI's use, or whether there has been a recent change, but for me as a fairly regular flyer, they ...

Cardiff Wales Airport;
Has to be in my opinion a fantastic airport, it may be smaller than Gatwick, Heathrow, Birmingham, but most people here in Wales seam more than happy to fly from there. It cuts down our travelling time by half; rather than have to travel to London before we holiday in some far off island My family and I, usually travel by hired mini bus to the air port, so there for don’t have any difficulties with car parking..
The airport ... ...Inside is not to overwhelming, with plenty to look at while you wait for your plane. The surroundings are quite pleasant, all your needs are catered for, weather it be food or drink you require. (Alcoholic ones to if that’s your tipple) Because food and drink items are more expensive than ordinary shops tea bars ect, I usually take my own. You also get some very good offers to.
The staffs are friendly (no complaints from me any way) and the facilities ...

...of the European airports, but Cardiff is one of my favourites.
Check-in is always uncomplicated, without long queues or overcrowding and as there are very few check- in desks, it is easy to find one's way around.
As a single woman traveller, who is also fearful of flying, the layout and set up in the airport would enable, even the most unexperienced traveller, to get through check-in and onto the plane without any trouble.
I have found with the ... ...same cannot be said of Cardiff Airport! It has a very relaxed feeling to it.
I usually check-in 2 hours/40 mins before flight (depending on airline) and once I am bag-free I go up the first floor to change my money and have a stiff drink in the bar, before proceeding to departure lounge. (There is a lift for disabled access to the first floor)
The departure lounge caters for everybody. There are gaming machines to keep the children happy, a small ...

Advantages: Local airport Disadvantages: Small, porr transport links
I flew to Majorca from Cardiff a few weeks ago. My first opinion was; "Well its hardly Heathrow". Its not a particulary large airport and it does not cater for very large plane such as B-747 and the like. The check in went alright relativly quickly although this was in the late evening. Once checked in I spent 2 hours in the departure area. Whilst larger airposrts have large shop and many cafes in these areas all Cardiff has is a smoke filled pub, ... ...junction,but the road links to Cardiff are small town roads that are almost always blocked by something or other. Even though my flight did leave on time, from what I heard this is very rare. Before I fly from Cardiff again I want to see a mojor redevelopment of the airport itself and the transport links to it. A train link from Cardiff city center would also be welcomed. ...

Cardiff aiport is an excellent airport with the most beautiful surroundings. I recently travelled to Lanzarote from Cardiff and it was the most pleasent flight I have ever had.
Cardiff is very easy to find your way around and has alot of facilities for the disabled.
