Quick! Hide! the Daleks are here
Advantages: Very informative, good exhibition Disadvantages: None
Do you remember when you were a child? Doctor Who came on the TV, you hid behind the sofa, not daring to look at the monsters! Now many years later, the show is a bit of a phenomenon, regularly getting millions of viewers. So why not capitalise on that, and bring the monsters to the people!
*** Where did I go? ***
So there I was in Cardiff, walking around the thriving waterside area, close to the Welsh Assembly. It started raining, so I decided ... ...at the Red Dragon Centre, which is basically a number of restaurants, a ten pin bowling alley and a multiplex cinema, also there is the Doctor Who – up close exhibition. I decided to go into the Doctor Who exhibition.
*** What is there? ***
The Doctor Who experience is an exhibition of some of the props and costumes worn during the latest series of Doctor who. There are also displays portraying the history of Doctor Who, with some of the “older” ...

Aquatic Fun!
Advantages: Interesting exhibits Disadvantages: A little overpriced and small
...was quite suprised with the Blue Reef Aquarium, in a good way. The place itself is rather small, although it does seem to be packed with all sorts of interesting displays. The highlight for me was the room with the Carp pond and the massive octopus! I've never seen anything like it! Also interesting was the Otter enclosure, they came right up to the glass wall so that you could get a really good look at them - they were obviously used to playing ... ...breeding tanks where the baby seahorses were. I've never seen anything so delicate and really quite cute.
There is a good size outdoor area for families with a splash park and a small kiosk serving food. The only real downside to this attraction is the price, rather expensive for adults, although we got a student discount. Other than that, a fun, family afternoon out! ...

Well worth the visit
Advantages: LOTS to see Disadvantages: Car parking fees
...decided a visit to the museum was called for - because they had an exhibition about the sea (she like fishes), it was free entry, and I had to be in Cardiff for something else anyway.
I must admit to some trepidation expecting her to bored and the old stuffy museum attendants not to be impressed by her exploration.
I WAS TOTALLY WRONG - she loved it, the museum attendants were wonderful, even though I could see they were ready to tell us that certain ... ...where the size of the museum "subdues" the children and she recommends bring them in young so they get used to it, I will definitely be returning with my family.
The main, and only real problem with this attraction for a day out I can think of is the high cost of parking in Cardiff, I was fortunate and could leave my car near to the location of the primary reason for the day in the city, true it was a "fair walk" but it was worth it as the museum ...

The National Museum and Gallery of Wales
Advantages: Plenty to see, great for a rainy day! Disadvantages: Restaurant is not too good
--LOCATION AND ACCESSIBILITY--
The National Museum of Wales is an impressive building situated in the heart of Cardiff's beautiful Edwardian civic centre, which also houses the old Cardiff City Hall, the Law Courts, Cathays Park and Cardiff University. It is only about 2 minutes walk from Cardiff Castle and about a 15 minute walk from Cardiff Central Bus/Train Station. There are a number of multi storey car parks located in the vicinity of the Museum, ... ...at the entrance.
The National Gallery, housed within the Museum, contains the art collection of the former Cardiff Museum of Natural History, Arts and Antiquities, begun in 1882, the first home for which was in 11 police cells and a corridor in the Cardiff Law Courts. The collection was moved to the present building during the 1920's.
--THE COLLECTIONS--
The National Museum and Gallery is unique. The Museum's particular individuality lies in the ...

A world of comfort
Advantages: huge screens, low prices for students, comfy seats Disadvantages: too many floors - get lost easy!
...suggested the UGC cinema or Cineworld as it's now known, as it was closest being in the city centre.
Background
The first Cineworld Cinema appeared in 1996 and since then has grown to a massive 72 cinema outlets in the UK. The company is owned by Cine-UK Ltd who have also taken over the UGC company and merged the two together to form 'Cineworld Cinemas'. ---------------------------------------
The Cineworld that this review is based ... ...that!
The tickets at Cineworld are very well priced and great for anyone on a tight budget like me. For students - any film, any time will cost you £3.60 except for if you go before 12am (this never happens being a student!) when with the Earlybird ticket you can get in for just £3.00! I'm not sure of the other prices for adults and children but I'm sure that the price never goes over £5. Another service Cineworld offer is the 'Unlimited Card'. ...
