Advantages: Interesting sculptures and a wide variety of things to see but not do. Disadvantages: Too many restaurants and parking could potentially be a problem.

Every time I visit this place, normally once or twice a year, some new building pops up. Its fair to say that this place is under development but wow, when its finished won’t it look good. It’s all set on the waterfront by some now disused docks. There are several startling features of this development that are worthy of a mention. One is the oval basin with its amphitheatrish looking shape that covers a vast area of slatted timber boards (women with high-heeled shoes – beware). Another is the flattened tube like building housing information on what the Bay’s going to look like (you’ve never seen a building like this before) and finally there’s the very tall smooth faced mirror like obelisk-ish metal structure that has water rippling and clinging down its surfaces (worth an oh and an ah). There’s a full Martine based sculpture dotted around the place to perk people’s interest up but why, oh why did they have to allow so many restaurants and shops to trade in this place. Blatant commercialism is not in keeping with the original ambiance of this area. Don’t get me wrong though it really is worth a Sunday afternoon stroll around but just don’t look at the water edge by the restaurant - too much flotsam, and not enough water!
Advantages: Educational but fun. Learn about science, Hands-on. Disadvantages: Very few
attitude towards science, Techniquest is a revelation. It teaches visitors, through its hands-on, experiential learning approach, that science can be great fun.
From humble beginnings in an old gas showroom in the center of Cardiff - the Welsh capital - the successful application of an idea of Professor John Bettlestone and a small team of professionals has resulted in Cardiff having a fascinating science discovery centre.. Opened in May 1995, Techniquest is located in an attractive 19th century building - an old engineering workshop - on the waterfront of CardiffBay. The building has been greatly modernised complete with a large geodesic dome and now Techniquest attracts more than 200,000 visitors a year.
The building has well over 160 interactive exhibits, a planetarium, discovery room, restaurant, shop, offices and an auditorium ...

Cardiff, the national capital of Wales, surprises a lot of first time visitors and captivates many of them. Old images of an industrial and coal exporting port, are no longer relevant-today Cardiff is entering a new golden age with exciting new developments taking place both across the city and on the waterfront at CardiffBay.
The city has a great deal to offer today's visitor. For starters there is a delightful castle in the city centre. Then there is the spanking new Millennium Stadium, great art galleries, museums, and outstanding shopping to be enjoyed.
Head down to CardiffBay and you will find up market eateries, night clubs,a bowling alley, a science centre of world importance, a 5 star luxury hotel and spa, and a fascinating art centre in the old Norwegian sailor's church.
The city has one of the finest civic centres in Europe ...
