A Sophisticated Stay in Cardiff

Advantages: Sophisticated, swimming pool, comfortable
Disadvantages: Expensive

...I think I prefer the Novotel now anyway! ~~Location, Location, Location~~ Location is a pretty important factor in choosing a hotel and the Novotel won’t be for everyone. The website lists it as being in central Cardiff, but I would argue that it’s a little further out than that. Granted it took us about 10 minutes to reach the shopping centres, but this is over quite a few busy main roads and those who aren’t so agile may prefer the location of ...
...buildings. Half of the Novotel building was originally an old building for another purpose and it had been done up really tastefully with a glass divide between the new building and the old one. Again, if you don’t mind walking, the hotel is a short walk away from the bay which is definitely worth a visit. The only downside to the location is probably that its quite near some rather run down warehouses which we accidentally walked through on our ...

What a wonderful hotel

Advantages: Luxury, spotlessly clean, wonderful food
Disadvantages: Full price would be too expensive for me!

...price of one at The Angel Hotel owned by the Paramount Group. Leisure Break members always have the chance of this offer during January, February and March each year. I found the brochure and discovered that two nights for the two of us at The Angel Hotel Cardiff, which is a four star hotel, would cost £102 for bed, breakfast and evening meal! That works out at just £25.50 per person per night, needless to say we booked it! By the way when we actually ...
...to my break. The Angel Hotel is situated on the A4161 in between the Millennium Stadium and Cardiff Castle. It is easily reached from the M4, is five minutes from Cardiff Central Railway Station and about 12 miles from Cardiff Airport so it is certainly convenient. On entering the hotel we found ourselves in a huge circular room with an imposing staircase sweeping down from the first floor, where there was a gallery landing complete with sofas. ...

Location, location, location

Advantages: clean and quiet rooms, comfortable
Disadvantages: staff not very friendly, lack of parking, beds

...stayed at one of the Jurys hotels before, in Dublin, and it had probably been one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. We chose the Jurys in Cardiff for two reasons really. Firstly, it's location. We were due to see Alice Cooper in the Cardiff Arena across the street - and the prospect of merely having to walk out of the venue and fall into bed just sounded marvelous. In addition, we had managed to get an excellent deal: £82 for the night ...
...***The verdict*** The Jurys in Cardiff is a nice enough hotel to stay in if you get a good deal. The rooms are very comfortable, quiet and clean - the only real issue I had was with the bed. The staff is not the friendliest, but I was able to live with it. However, due to some of the problems we faced (lack of parking, long check-in upon our return, lack of gym or pool), I can only really assign three stars to this establishment instead of the four ...

Expensive but luxurious

Advantages: Luxurious, Lively Cardiff Bay Location
Disadvantages: Price, Distance From City Centre

Situated in Cardiff Bay, St Davids Hotel and Spa is Cardiff's only five star rated hotel. Don't be suprised if, while being pampered in the luxury marine spa or enjoying drinks in Tides bar, you catch sight of a few famous faces! St Davids Hotel is four miles from the city centre, making it quieter than central hotels but less convenient for tourists planning to go shopping or sightseeing. Transport is available into the city centre by train and ...
...biggest waterfront development. Since it was regenerated, it has become a major attraction for visitors to Cardiff. A range of attractions are available, including water tours, Techniquest discovery centre and the Welsh Assembly building. There are also a selection of stylish bars and restaurants within the Atlantic Wharf development which provide top quality drinks and dining. Rooms: With prices starting at £84 per room per night, St David's hotel ...

Bless them for trying but this hotel does not deliver

Advantages: central
Disadvantages: lazy impolite staff, uncomfortable beds, very noisy, bad breakfast, next to no parking

...to low budget hotels. However the photos of the owner john malkovic looking pained and angst ridden which you see in the foyer are the best way to explain what your stay in this very noisey soulless hotel will be like, with staff who are totally uninterested and with only 20 or so parking spaces for its hundreds of rooms. The small single beds are uncomfortable and when i politely rang down to reception to ask what time the road works outside would ...
