When i was in Venezuela, after trekking and visiting the sites i decided to relax for a few days on the coast. However it was difficult to pick a good place, so i followed the Venezuelans to what for them Cornwall is for us. The place was called Puerto Columbia and is reached by bus, albeit rather long and uncomfortable. However it is worth the journey. On one side of the bay there are bars, clubs and hotels and on the other side the beach and some restaurants can be found. The hotels are not top quality but they are sufficient and prices are so cheap - 3 pounds for a meal and 4 for a night in a hotel. In terms of theings to do there is plenty. The number one attraction is the beach, white sands, palm trees, prestine ocean and sun are the essential mix here. On the other side of the bay a market visits once a week from teh carribean islands and brings an extra spice to the area with a great atmosphere (usually at night). Excursion can also be taken from here and one i did was snorkelling in another bay nearby. This was one of the best experiences of my life - unbelievable.
