Bought last week a pair of no brand jogging shoes from Carrefour. After one week they broke down. Yesterday went to exchange the shoes and the reaction was unpleasant and rather unexpected.
The lady in the customer service booth explained that jogging shoes only have a warranty for textile parts, not for sole. So because there was a hole in the sole of both shoes, nothing could be done. Asked her kindly to provide us proof that had talked with her about the issue. This would have been necessary for filing a consumer complaint against Carrefour, but she refused without explanation.
Next asked her name so that we could at least refer to the incident in the complaint, but she refused again. Instead she lost her temper. Next question was to speak with her superior. She showed a photo of the store manager in a poster hanging on the wall, but added that the manager would be too busy to talk with anyway. So only option for having a proof was to take her photo so that she could be identified later if necessary.
At this point the lady got really mad and asked the guards to take camera. The photos were erased, but the guards agreed to ask some kind of boss to help. The boss came, yelled something in French and ran away. That was their understanding of the quality of service as one of our main source of competitive differentiation.
The shoes cost 8.90 € and they lasted for less than one week. Expectation was one year or more, so the annual price of the shoes would have been 462,80 €. According to Carrefour policy quality always corresponds to what the customer explicitly or implicitly wants and must be clearly perceived as such. The value for money must be the best. What do you think, is 462,80€ for jogging shoes the best value for the money?
One can only speculate what will happen when a customer discovers something dangerous in Carrefour food products or children toys. Perhaps someone will have to die, like children in China because of poison milk sold by by them, before Carrefour shows respect to customers and follows the rules of responsible commerce. Do you dare to use Carrefour, any Carrefour, anywhere in the world? I don't.
Advantages: 2 minute walk from Lille Europe station. Excellent, diverse range of shopping to cater all tastes. Disadvantages: None.
of retail therapy. Having dropped Grandma off, the kids can be wildly entertained in the enormous adventure play area, with nets and ball pools, ideal. At the end of the day, pop up to Carrefour, and stock up on school materials, videos, clothes and groceries, at cheap prices. I will be leaving Lille in a few weeks but I will definately book a eurostar ticket from England just to come shopping in Lille for the day, to enjoy the relaxed French ambience, the rich coffee smells, the sparkling jewellery and whats better is that having jumped of the eurostar, the mall is only a two minute walk from the station. A great days shopping and stress free for all the family. ...

the Ferry ports) - we couldn't have wished for more. It's also within walking distance of Cité Europe, a huge shopping mall which features restaurants, cafes and an impressive Carrefour hypermarket. If you're more interested in getting out and about you can be in Lille in just over an hour, Le Touqet (with fantastic beaches) in slightly less than that and in Boulogne in around half an hour.
Room
As the name suggests, Suitehotel rooms are all actually mini-suites, so are a good size - 30 square metres in fact. The rooms appear to be standard throughout the chain, and each have a double bed and a settee which folds out into a second double bed. Between the two is a sliding bamboo partition, which is ideal if one of you wants to watch TV or read while the other sleeps. I imagine this is particularly beneficial if you're travelling as ...

I lived in Lille for 1 year. I went there as part of my degree.
And I must say that I fell in love with the city after just one day.
I lived in the Old part of Lille (Vieux Lille) which is about 2 mins walk from the town centre. It has so much charm! the cobbled streets boast a large variety of boutiques, some of which are privately owned and some of which are widely known brand names such as Hermes, and Louis Vuitton. these can be found in rue de la Grande Chaussée, and rue Chats Bossus.
For some bigger shops you can head off to EuroLille (a very large shopping centre in between the 2 main train stations) it consists of mainly chain stores, and has a huge supermarket called Carrefour. Carrefour has a brilliant seafood section filled with fresh produce, there's also a fantastic 'ready to eat' area where you can usually sample ...
