Bournemouth East Cliff, just outside of the town centre yet within easy reach of all the activities this popular town has to offer. PLEASE NOTE THAT FROM THE 1ST JULY 2007 THE HOTEL AND ALL BEDROOMS WILL BE NON SMOKING. Approximately a ten-minute, very pleasant walk, through beautiful public gardens will lead you to the seven-mile stretch of golden sandy beaches that Bournemouth is so famous for.Having its own car park with 100 spaces and being only five minutes away from the main route into Bournemouth, this impressive 145 bedroom hotel offers a diverse range of facilities offering something for everyone, including a heated indoor swimming pool. All our rooms are en-suite and offer all the facilities that one would expect to find in your room: colour TV with satellite channels, courtesy tray to make your own tea & coffee, hairdryer, trouser press, direct telephone and not forgetting those ?famous Forestdale ducks? in the bathroom.
...the way down between the two piers, either on the sand itself, or for the less energetic, you can amble along the promenade. Cars are not permitted to drive down here so it’s perfectly safe. Boscombe is ok, but bear in mind that this area has a high concentration of guest houses and hotels, and isn’t generally seen as being as ‘nice’ as the rest of the stretch. Past Boscombe is Southbourne, which is another lovely, and quieter part of the beach. Highly recommended, but be aware that there are fewer facilities the further east you go.
Arguably the finest beaches are actually in Poole at Sandbanks. This stretch is aesthetically perfect (almost), and house prices nearby reflect this. Getting to Sandbanks is less straightforward as reaching any part of Bournemouth's beach - you will either need to drive a fair distance around the coast, or hop...

Advantages: Great facilities and location Disadvantages: Some rooms on the small side
...Getting there
Our family stayed at the Queen’s HotelBournemouth for 2 nights back in May 2007. The drive down from North London is 112 miles and took around 3 Hours 20 Minutes which included a 30 minute stop over. The Hotel is located on Meyrick Road, just a minutes walk from the sea front and a 15 minute walk to the Pier.
There is room for about 15 cars in the car park at the front of the Hotel, with room for a further 20 cars at the rear. This is free to use for guests and you give your car registration details when you check in. The hotel has 109 rooms and deluxe suites situated over 4 floors. There is a lift near the reception to all floors except lower ground which has just 6-8 steps, so the Hotel is ideal for the elderly.
Rooms
Choices of rooms range from four-poster bridal suite rooms to deluxe, family and executive...

...Bournemouth is NOT full of 'mature' people, it is an excellent place to holiday on the south coast. I am a 25 year old and have spent the last ten years holidaying in Bournemouth. The sea is lovely, sand golden and the entertainment and facilities provided by the local authority second to none. That also goes for Heathlands Hotel. Heathlands is situated on the East Cliff and within ten minutes walking distance of the town centre (although it is all up hill on the way back). There is an outdoor pool for use in the good weather. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I would recommend when booking that you request a room on the front of the hotel, as the back overlooks the kitchen area and it gets very hot in the back bedrooms! There is a really relaxed and homely feel to this hotel and I have returned there after trying other...

I recently visited Cork and stayed at a hotel which was (a) not of my choosing, and (b) my room type had been specified in advance as a single room. Given the fact that the name was not one of a chain I recognised and I had no time to check the web for... more
