Anacapri. It is surrounded by a beautiful botanic park including many exotic plants. The tranquil hotel’s tranquil location is still only a few minutes’ walk from the square of Capri and the island’s main attractions. Due to its south-facing position, you can relax in the Mediterranean sun and a light breeze all day long. In the evening the bar serves drinks and speciality desserts typical of Capri. At the beginning of the 20th century the Casa Caprile was home to the then Queen of Sweden, Victoria Von Baden. It has successfully managed to maintain its tradition and elegance whilst adding all modern amenities.

Advantages: A unique and quaint hotel... Disadvantages: Lacking a few mod-cons...
We stayed in this hotel for a few days while on a little tour of the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico, including visits to Cancun (don't bother), Playa del Carmen & Cozumel (much better) and the amazing ancient Mayan ruins at Uxmal, Chitzen Itza and Tulum. (I'll try and get round to reviewing all these later...)
We arrived by taxi from Merida airport (a short journey), having flown in from Cancun, where we had arrived in Mexico the day before, and were delighed with what we found, a massive improvement of the brash touristy-ness of Cancun !
The Casa del Balam Hotel was formerly the family home of Fernando Barbachano Peon, pioneer of Mexican tourism. A blend of Mexican tiles, terracotta and wrought iron, it has a small pool in a walled courtyand, complete with a stone carved fountain and tropical plants, a restaurant and bar, along ...
Advantages: Beautiful Views, secluded location Disadvantages: No restaurant in the hotel
We had hoped to go to Sardinia, but that was out of our price range. Italy has always been a favourite so when we found we could afford go to Capri we were really excited.
The Hotel Weber Ambassador were really helpful from start to finish. We booked direct through their website which saved money on the Expedia listed price, though I think it would depend whether you were going high season or not.
Originally we were a little apprehensive having read the mixed reviews on trip advisor, but being of the disposition that a holiday is what you make it we packed ourselves off and flew into Naples.
An Italian bus ride across town to the port and battle through the ticket touts for a boat ticket and we were on our way.
Despite arriving late and dark the hotel had given us clear instructions about how to ring them (toll-free) when ...
Advantages: Lots to see and do Disadvantages: not enough time
~ A Day In Capri ~
We booked a day trip to capri with a representative from our hotel (we were staying at the Excelsior Vittoria Hotel) in Sorrento this trip cost approx £50.00 per person.
We got the hydrofoil from the marina piccolo which takes about twenty to thirty minutes or so. As we approached Capri I was amazed at the view of elegant brightly coloured buildings and tropical trees and plants it really does take your breath away and looks a bit like Balamory with all the beautiful colours and shapes, I think you will see what I mean on the photo's.
~ AnaCapri ~
We got a minibus to AnaCapri which is the island's second (Ana-means other), quieter town with lovely little white houses halfway up the slopes of Monte Solaro (which is the highest point on capri), one of the highlights for me was the scenic ...
