Advantages: Clean, high standards, mostly good food, all inclusive. Disadvantages: The mexican restaurant.
...My girlfriend and I recently spent two wonderful weeks in the Dominican Republic (Caribbean) at the CasaMarina Reef hotel. This is located on the Northern part of the island – in the town of Sosua. The transfer time from the airport is around 10 minutes, which is very acceptable considering an approximate 8.5 hour flight from the UK.
The CasaMarina Reef hotel is right next door to the CasaMarina Beach hotel, so much so they may as well be the same hotel. I learnt that the Beach hotel was the original one, and then the ‘Reef’ was built on to it just a few years back. In holiday brochures you will see each hotel listed separately but upon further inspection it should become clear that at whichever one you stay at you can use the facilities and restaurants of either. Advantages: Great complex, very friendly staff, various activities, private beach Disadvantages: Market stalls 3 evenings a week, lack of drinks menus
...My girlfriend and I spent 2 weeks at the CasaMarina Beach hotel in July 2006. The hotel is located on the northern part of Dominican Republic in a town called Sosua. This was around about a 20 minute drive from the airport in Puerto Plata.

The reception staff (who we got to know very well, explanation later) were very friendly, efficient and informative regarding the hotel. We were booked in very quickly and so to the room. The bell boy (is that the correct terminology?) took our bags leading us to our room, but we had to be quick paced as he almost ran there! A little too efficient I think! The room key was a swpie card so was simple enough. We were situated on the top floor (2nd floor);
The Room - The room...

Advantages: wonderful holiday destination for any age Disadvantages: long flight
...On 8 April 1998 my now husband, myself and 15 friends and family flew to the Dominican Republic, Sosua for a fortnight. We were to stay at the CasaMarina Complex all inclusive for 1 week then get married at the complex and then have a weeks honeymoon.
I can honestly say on behalf of all our friends, ages ranging from 3 to 50 there was not one fault with the holiday, the flights, the resort, the wedding, the food, the people, the weather.
Everything was fantastic and I am sure we will be returning to the same complex for a future holiday. We never came across any muggings, violence or attitude from the locals, just a really good time.
We went with Thomson holidays who booked everything from the cake to the flowers to the registrar, wonderful....
