Advantages: Great architecture, well worth seeing. Disadvantages: Expect to queue to get entry
...and one of them was Casa Mila or La Pedrera as it is otherwise known, this Gaudi designed building is now a World Heritage site and is most famous for the quite spectacular roof that it boasts however there is more to it than just that although to be honest the roof alone justifies the entry fee in my opinion and if you are visiting Barcelona I would definitely recommend it as a suitable place to visit for all the family as my children really enjoyed ... ...Getting There and Admission
Casa Mila is located on the corner of Passeig de Gracia and Provenca in the Eixample district of Barcelona. The nearest metro station is Diagonal on metro line 3 and the house is right opposite one of the metro exits. Being a main through fare there are also a number of bus routes that can be used however we found the metro to be the fastest and easiest to work out on our trip.
Entry cost was 7 euro each which was not ...

Advantages: Great architecture and so so much to do Disadvantages: street crime
...A weekend in Barcelona is just not long enough. There is so much to do!
As you'd expect from the home of Gaudi, it's full of culture for all those art and architechure lovers. You must see the Sagrada Familia. One of Gaudi's most famous buildings, it was not completed in his lifetime so men and machines are still at work today. Other must sees are the Cathedral in the Gothic Quarter and the CasaMila. You can enter the cathedral at certain times, but the dress code is very strict (no shorts!). The CasaMila was the last building Gaudi worked on before the Sagrada Familia. It is a family home so you can wander around and nosy in all the rooms. You can even go up onto the bizarre terrace roof! Just walking around the city you will notice Gaudi is everywhere.
Barcelona is also on the coast so there is a harbour and a beach...

Advantages: A great example of Gaudí's work and an overview of his other buildings Disadvantages: Not great if you have mobility problems
...Having visited the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell, we wanted to visit one of Gaudí's houses too, the only problem was which one to choose. We eventually went for La Perdrera (aka CasaMilà), as we had passed this intriguing building several times and really wanted to see the unusual roof which we thought would offer great views of the city.
The facade of the building is said to have no straight lines in it whatsoever, and its undulating, organic shape, is further enhanced by the wrought iron plant-like forms which adorn the balconies. The building owes its nickname la Perdrera to the quarry-like aspect of its frontage.
On entering, the courtyard is also impressive, its shape drawing the eye up towards the little bit of sky at the top. The visit is in several parts, and equipped with our audio commentary, we first visited the 2...

Advantages: Wonderful city with loads to see and do. Disadvantages: Can get hot and crowded in summer. Watch your valuables!
...; the inside is empty. Gaudi died before he could finish his biggest and most beloved piece of work. The people of Barcelona hope that one day this massive landmark will be completed. It's a strange building - each face has a different theme; some of the faces are a little disturbing and some were apparently based on people that Gaudi knew.
Other places designed by Gaudi that you can visit in Barcelona include:
THE CASAMILA - A building in the futurist style, reminiscent of sand dunes. It is considered to be a great landmark in Modernist architectural design. It is a really cool building - very difficult to describe, but a must if you are in Barcelona.
PARC GUELL - A fascinating combination of gardens and architecture. Well worth a visit!
PALAU GUELL - One of the works created for his friend and sponsor the industrialist Eusebi...
