My partner and I (both 25) stayed here for two nights on our trip two Italy. We paid 80e a night for bed and breakfast with a private bathroom. This price was pretty cheap compared to most in Florence.

Casa Toselli itself is a beautiful building just off a main road leading out of Florence city centre. The rooms are big and typically Italian with very heavy dark furniture and a huge bed. It has a rustic charm but is very well maintained and especially clean, if somewhat basic. There is a car park which, I believe, is free to use and also a lovely patio area which is very nice to take your breakfast when the weather is nice. I have read a couple of reviews which mention a particularly noisy cockerel, however we did not hear it once during our stay and we were in a room at the front of the building.

The gentlemen who run the reception are very friendly and helpful. They even provide mosquito plugs and plug converters for you to use. But be warned, as their English is very broken and difficult to understand so if you want any hot tips on restaurants or tourist attractions be prepared to get your Italian phrase book out.

One of the downsides of Casa Toselli is the location. The walk into Florence centre will take you about 20 minutes and sometimes this just isn’t convenient. However, the bus services are fantastic. The number 17 bus drops you off right outside Casa Toselli and the one that takes you into the city is on the parallel road as many of the roads are one way. The price is 1.20e if you buy them from the Tabacchi which are everywhere. You even get a discount if you buy a couple at a time. The buses run from about 7.00 in the morning until just before 12.00 midnight every 7 minutes and they run like clockwork! If you miss the bus after a long night on the town, it is easy to pick up a taxi from Santa Maria Novella Station, this costs about 10e.

The other thing that lets this place down is the breakfast… it really isn’t great. You have juice and coffee which are both good. But the rest is just bread, some chocolate cake and a nutella biscuit cake. Each of these things are nice but there certainly is not enough to set you up for long day sight seeing.
