CASABLANCA. This is the largest city in Morocco, with nearly 3 millions. There are many rich Moroccans living here, but also beggars and prostitutes and many people living beyond the level of poverty in the shantytowns. The French meant to create a modern city, and mainly they succeeded, but, in doing this, they could not prevent some of the problems linked to modernization to pop up. Casablanca is the only city I am aware of in Morocco, to have a red light district. However, the area can be quite dangerous and I would recommend you try to stay clear of this area around Blvd Hassan Seghir and Rue Mohammed Smiha
