Advantages: Central and cheap Disadvantages: Worn around the edges
...There are not a lot of cheap accommodation options in Hobart, so the choice invariably comes down to availability rather than preference. I was in town for just 2 nights, and wanted somewhere central and clean, but as I'm travelling off and on for the next 4 months, I didn't want to blow my budget.
Central City Backpackers is not a misleading name as it is located in the centre of the city. It overlooks a shopping precinct at the front and a cathedral at the back, and is within easy walking distance of the main bus terminal (2 minutes), the main shopping area (2 minutes) and the harbour (10 minutes).
Getting there is easy as the airport shuttle bus drops off just around the corner. There are 2 entrances, one for daytime and a different one for at night that is kept secure by a keycode issued by reception on check in. Though...

...While staying in Australia with my best friend, we decided to have a few days away in Tasmania. I left the booking of the hotel up to my friend and she managed to get us a discounted room at the Corus hotel, courtesy of her cousin who works in the travel industry.
Situated in the business district, the hotel is around 25 minutes drive from the airport. We didn't hire a car as we were only in Hobart for 2 days - so we used the airport shuttle. However, we weren't planning on raiding the mini bar!
Reception is located on the left as you enter the door and the two lifts are out of sight but straight ahead. There are five floors and we were located...

Advantages: Chocolate factory, Mt Wellington, Harbour, Salamanca Market Disadvantages: It gets spookily quiet at night
..., paying about 75 GBP return from Sydney. Airport transfers are limited to taxis, around $45, or shuttle busses, $19 return. Accommodation ranges from hostels to hotels, and I had a single room in the former for $45 per night. Daytime, snacks are readily available in Hobart, and I would recommend breakfasting at one of the Elizabeth St restaurants where choices include British and American style options (plus random things like 'thin pancakes', i.e. crepes, with maple syrup). Gloria Jeans Coffees, also on Elizabeth St, is good for cake, and the Bakery at Salamanca Place would have had my custom on several occasions had I located them sooner. As it was I breakfasted and lunched there on the same day, and sampled some delicious things including the first chocolate croissants I've located since arriving in Oz over a month ago. The 'most famous' ice...

My impressions of this game when I saw it advertised on the internet was that it looked like a completely different type of game that I'm used to seeing for the DS.
