Border Collies originate from England. Over the years they have been used to herd various animals such as sheep and cattle, but over the recent years they have become introduced into families as a pet. They are extremely intelligent and require constant mental and physical stimulation, without this the collie can become quickly bored and very destructive. Collies have always been a personal favourite of mine, i adore them for their looks, intelligence, speed and loyalty. I think every collie owner is the same in the respect that when they see another one they completely melt and will want to meet it?? My collie Inca portrays everything a collie should be except rather than being black and white she is in fact white and black. She is all i could have ever wanted in a dog and in my bias opinion-perfect :) ...

Advantages: Intelligent, Active, Loyal Disadvantages: Get Border Easily, Not Always Good Pets
I own 8 border collies so here is what i think about them as a breed...
My family have always had border collies from when i was a child all of them have been very loyal loving dogs, I wanted a border collie for years of my own and eventually had my own to do agility with they are work mad and love to please their owner and will get bored very easily of they are not doing someting, they are fun to own, very playfull and will help keep their owners in good shape too.
Orginally bred as a sheepdog and still used today as they are irreplaceable by any machinary.
Being originally bred as sheepdogs a lot of them still have a herding drive which can be turned into herding cars, bikes, other pets and anything else they can find, although they can be trained to stop this behaviour.

My dad has always kept dogs. At the moment he has two: Charlie, a Chocolate Labrador and Roger, an Old English Sheepdog, before them there was Jasper, a King Charles Spaniel, Magic a Border Collie and Cassie a German Shepherd. If you take all the pets we had growing up throughout our childhood we could easily have run a farm!
Personally I think that Border Collies are one of the most beautiful dogs available and so I loved Magic from the moment I saw him.
