...A visit to Treviso can only start from Piazza dei Signori, which is surrounded by some of the town's most significant monuments, such as the Palazzo dei Trecento (the Palace of the Three Hundred) with its remarkable frescoes and decorations, the Town's Tower and the Prefecture Palace.
Leaving the town's living room, walk through the Soffioni Portico and you will reach the picturesque Piazzetta del Monte di Pietà, where the Mont-de-Pieté was established in the 14th century. Inside it there is the Cappella dei Rettori, one of the town's prides, with frescoes by Fiumicelli, paintings by Pozzeserrato and precious gilded leathers from Cordova.
In the nearby Piazza S.Vito there are the two remarkable and picturesque churches of S.Lucia and S.Vito, which are connected by a little door, where you can see many imporant art pieces.

...Only after leaving Treviso to settle in England, did I start deepening my understanding of the history, culture and people of the area.
I re-visited my home town with open eyes. A quite important market town, its wealth was built on the water that flows even today through a network of waterways and canals, which have filled to become un-navigable with the construction of the electrical generator works near Largo Altinia and the coach and railway stations.
Since leaving it I have grown to appreciate what a truly useful location it commands. So near to both the sea and the Venitian lagoon to the south and the Alps to its north and east, it is a perfect base to explore north eastern Italy from.
Like so many italian cities Treviso has pre-roman origins. The local Museo Bailo has a permanent show of artifacts found in and around...

Back in March 2007, I bought my first laptop. This brought the number of computers in our house up to a grand total of three (my own desktop, my daughter's and the new laptop). It struck me that perhaps it was time to get networked. A hard wired network... more
I have had my Indesit now for approximately nine months. It was allegedly "free of charge" with the kitchen I bought, (obviously we are all to simple to work out the price of the kitchen is hiked up to cover it). Any way. here is my opinion of the... more
