Advantages: Cheap, great food, great leisure facilities, Disadvantages: Located away from shops, bars and restaurants
..., these can be bought from the leisurecentre reception (where you also can get towels so you don't need to use ones from your room) for 2 Euros. And as everyone else is wearing them you don't feel you look stupid! You can also get a padlock from the reception for use with the lockers. You had to pay a deposit for this (5 Euros I think) and you get this back when you return after your swim. There is also a gym but I can't really review this as I never went. However between the swimming pool and the gym is a glass wall and it looked like it had a lot of equipment in. They also do various fitness classes including aqua aerobics in the pool; I never went to these either.
My first visit to the hotel was very good but once a returned home I encountered a problem which a payment still pending on my bank account even though we had paid fully on check...

...I'm laughing as I'm writing this, because I simply cannot believe what we've just experienced! We booked with National Holidays and were given The Norbreck Castle as a dwelling place! I got onto the net and couldn't believe my luck when I was presented with beautiful pictures of a fantastic castle with amazing facilities! We travelled down on the coach looking forward to our stay at this amazing castle!
The coach arrived and my jaw quite simply hit the floor. It looks like an eastern european prison. The driver on the coach then announced, "Oh, and by the way folks, you can't check into your rooms untill 3pm!" Which was great, considering it was 10am.
We entered the hotel and were greeted with a wonderful 1970s reception with lovely wooden revolving doors which felt as if they were about to fall off. Everything from the reception...

Advantages: beautiful hotel, given a room with a terrace Disadvantages: Out of season there isnt a huge amount to do
...~~~~First Impressions~~~~
When driving up to the hotel you are immediately struck by how lovely this Edwardian building is. The building has been extended to include more bedrooms and a business/conference centre. And we were more then pleased when we seen it. From the driveway, we could see lovely rooms with balconies and we could see into the restaurant and a conservatory style coffee area.
Facing the hotel was a park which had a playground and pitch within it, a pleasant enough view. There was plenty of parking in the car park and parking was free during our stay.
The hotel reception was small but beautiful, very in-keeping with the Edwardian building it was housed in. We could see into the bar, which faces the reception, and at the end of the hall there was a set of stairs leading up to the rooms. At the top of the first...

Spent a long weekend in Dublin with my partner who booked us in at the Clontarf Hotel, an old castle that had been converted to a hotel. It's situated away form the city centre in a rather nice suburb of Dublin close to the waterside. If you haven't got... more
My Grandson loves the Play Mobil super castle set that his mummy and daddy bought him for his 5th birthday.
This is a plastic toy made to look like a stone fort; there are fortifications around part of the top of the castle. There is a dungeon too.... more
