On 1 October 2009 I visited York CastleMuseum for the first time.
It is a social history museum that is located in York on the very site of York Castle, which was originally built by William the Conqueror in 1068. It is two minutes walk from Clifford?s Tower and five minutes from Jorvik Viking Centre. It is considered to be a landmark in the development of museums and has twice won the York Tourism Award for best attraction.
During the 18th century the museum buildings were used as a prison. First they were a Debtor?s Prison and then later a Female Prison. As a museum it was founded by Dr John Kirk in 1938, who was a Yorkshire country doctor and a passionate collector of historical items used daily in the local area. This was my first time at the york castlemuseum it strangley reminded me of the jorvik museum i dont no why just did
the museum is located exactly next door to the clifford tower and just ten minutes from the train stration and 5 minutes to the jorvik museum. At the entrance you will see the gift shop and near is an good sized car park which is just a stones through away.
The castle musuem has over 400 exibits from the years of the history of york and in this means that it contians the history of ordaniy people such as the differant changes in the persons life such as the militarty and their children and there childhood .
when you get in you start off with 2 large classical buildings and then confronted with diferant times wivh go back to the victorian and the medival times which can be very intresting if you like this ...

Utrecht was the first city I visited as a lone traveller from England. I was worried about many things; getting the transfers from the airport, finding the hotel and above all I spoke not a scrap of Dutch.
Stepping off the plane at Schipol - the airport in Amsterdam- I was greeted by easy to follow signs pointing me where I needed to be, to collect my luggage, then booths to buy train tickets, which I'd managed in under 2 minutes, and was quickly off on my way to get the train to Utrecht. Located right in the airport, the train station has ever so friendly staff that appear delighted to help you and will enter into a bit of friendly and polite banter with you too; so (after figuring out very quickly I was English) they helped me find the right train platform and off I went with a smile on my face.
