...St Marie's is the Catholic Cathedral within the city, and one of two Cathedrals within Sheffield, the other being the nearby Anglican Cathedral.
I did not visit this place for religious purposes, but to simply light a candle for my loved one. My partner, though Roman Catholic by Religion was not by any means a practising Catholic, and if truth be known he had struggled in the past with some of the aspects of his faith, including his Sexuality, but ... ...LOCATION
Unlike the Anglican Cathedral which dominates the centre of the city, the Church of St Marie's is tucked away off the pedestrianised shopping area of Fargate, on Norfolk Row, which is also often referred to colloquially as St Marie's Parade.
Surrounded by some of the tallest buildings within the town centre it is actually a place that you could quite easily miss if you did not know it was there. I have lived in Sheffield all of my life, ...

Advantages: Fantastic Decorations, Central Location Disadvantages: None
...Sheffield has two different Cathedrals both occupying prominent positions in the City Centre. These are the Roman Catholic CathedralChurch of StMarie and the Anglican CathedralChurch of St Peter and St Paul. This review is about the latter that represents the Church of England diocese for the City of Sheffield.
This Anglican Cathedral stands on High Street right in the heart of the City Centre and at the foot of the main pedestrianised shopping precinct called Fargate. It is a huge Building that cannot be overlooked and the sound of its tolling bells frequently fill the streets. It is also one of only three Grade 1 listed Buildings in the City.
THE HISTORY
There has been a Church on this site since Saxon times and a 9th century Saxon Cross from this site is now in the British Museum in London. Over the centuries this Church...

...into Truro harbour, in which case the trip begins and ends at the nearby pretty village of Malpas (free bus connection to and from Truro,)
The Truro skyline is dominated by the three spires of the CathedralChurch of StMary, which is open to tourists and well worth a visit.
In summer Truro enters the Britain in Bloom contest and the floral displays are spectacular, especially the “Welcome to Truro” display in Trafalgar Square (yes, in Truro!)
Truro has so much to offer the visitor. If you haven’t been yet, you don’t know what you are missing....

Advantages: Ancient,historic,fun Disadvantages: youngsters complain it's boring, but when didn't they?
...I have only lived in Bury St Edmunds for 16 years, but it, more than any other place, is my home. I met my second husband, Sam here, both of my children met and married their partners here and I expect to remain here now for the duration. We actually moved to a little village about 10 miles outside of the town, six years ago, but we all work in the town and therefore, most of our lives are actually spent in Bury St Edmunds, fondly known as BSE.
~~~
BSE has been in the National papers more than once, and in the local Bury Free Press, (which costs 32P and isn’t therefore free.) Most recently when the Rothschild and the Goldsmith sprogs tied the knot at StMary's church, next to the Cathedral, last September. My daughter Rowena and her soldier boy Mack also got married at StMary’s a month earlier. If they'd waited, they'd have been able...
