...Most people who viist the cathedral just stare at the beautiful Gaudi altar-piece that hangs over the main altar. It can get busy up there. I go to St Sebastian for a bit of peace and quiet. The Gaudi piece is well worth a stare though. It's just stunning.
Legend has it that the cathedral was built on the site of a former mosque by James I in gratitude to the Virgin Mary for keeping him safe during a storm at sea. It took nearly 400 years to build, ... ...and stained glass.
The cathedral has a number of nice cafes and bars close by where you can sit outside in the shade of the trees. If you really want to explore the cathedral bear in mind that there are a lot of weddings there, especially in the summer, which will restrict your movements.
