We stayed here in September 2006 for a weekend on our way to the Kwa Zulu Natal South Coast, and loved every minute.

Firstly it is a bit of a drive through villages, dodging cows and chickens, but once you are there it is pure paradise. Clear, fresh air, a stately country hotel surrounded by beautiful mountains, the Drakensberg.

We booked a family room as we have a five year old and a baby. The room was a real surprise, it was huge and actually two seperate rooms divided by sliding doors. In the first room were two single beds and the cot set up and made up, and then in the second room was a double bedroom and doors going out onto the patio. This was ideal so that we could have some privacy, but still be close enough to hear the baby.

The hotel is quite remote, so I think it only offers Dinner, Bed & Breakfast, but the food was delicious. They also had high tea on the patio with coffee (or milk for the kids) and delicious biscuits. This became a favourite activity!!

There is a kids dining room with supervision where you can leave your kids if you like, or stay and feed them there. The food (as far as I can remember) was kids fare but still included lots of veggies and salad. There is also a tv and some toys, but nothing fancy. Kids were also allowed in the main dining room until a certain time, but nobody made a fuss when our kids were there after that time.

But the best thing we did was to organise a babysitter through the hotel one night, she came to our room, I could quicky check up on the kids if I wanted to (which I did) while we had a wonderful peaceful dinner - what bliss!!

The hotel also had lots of activities, heated outdoor rock pool with a little slide in beautiful surroundings, golf, table tennis, games room, outdoor chess, guided walks, horseriding and more.

This is really a wonderful place to visit, especially for families, I wish we stayed longer.
