Jellicle Cats Come One, Come All!

Advantages: Superb family show. Moving around the country
Disadvantages: Moving around the country!

...story to tell of, really. CATS is based on a collection of poems written and bound together in ‘Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats’ by T.S. Eliot.

The show begins with an empty junkyard with oversized newspapers, beer cans, bottles and all sorts of other rubbish. As the overture begins, cats eyes appear around the stage and the tribe of the Jellicle Cats reunite on a very special night to celebrate their own abilities and quirks.
...different names. Ever wondered why cats seem lost in thought? It is because they are contemplating their secret names…

A young white cat by the name of ‘Victoria’ dances to show the beginning of the Jellicle Ball, whilst ‘Munkustrap’ explains that the Jellicles meet up once, every year, for this very Ball. They are waiting for their leader, ‘Old Dueteronomy’, to arrive and chose which cat will journey to the Heaviside Layer and be ... more

Masterpiece

Advantages: Great songs, costumes, make up, cast, ideas
Disadvantages: cynical people may not like the concept

...tight spandex pretending they were cats they would probably laugh at you and tell you to grow up. If you then took that person to see the show you would love the look on their face when they left the theatre. Cats combines an excellent cast, memorable and likeable songs, great performers and a great concept to bring you a never forgettable couple of hours. The musical is based on the book by T. S. Eliot, which contains a collection of poems based ...
...is that a collection of cats all meet up once a year to see who gets to go to the "Heaviside layer", a place full of wonder for special cats. Each cat performs, telling the others why they are so wonderful, and the oldest cat, Old Deuteronomy, makes his choice as to who will go. The musical brings a great message across, about how old and lonely people are very special within their own right, and I promise you will leave the theatre a very happy ...

The cat's whiskers

Advantages: Entertainment at its best
Disadvantages: It had to end

...seated all around, and the cats frequently move amongst the audience, adding to the excitement. The songs, in my opinion, were fantastic. They were for the most part, catchy and lively, and with the atmospheric 'Memory' standing out as one of the best. The dancing was superb, with Mr Mistofelees the star of the show, performing amazing acrobatics to the audiences'delight. The cat costumes were wonderful, too. I have been to see this show four times ...

You Can't Miss...

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...chance. Among all, I enjoy CATS the most. The lyric (poem) is great, and the music gives more feeling to help me better appreciate the work. Also, the dance of the show is excellent. My boyfriend used to hate this musical because he thinks that some songs from it are kind of cliche, especially "Memory". I dragged him to the musical, and he enjoyed it so much. After that, he told me that seeing the whole thing alive gives the context of the songs ...
...within. I enjoy the costume and make-up as much as the stage design. To sit in front of the stage might be a very good idea. I was sitting in the first floor and I could't feel the "impact" of the stage work until I went down to see it after the show was finished. The costume and make-up give each character vivid personality. I think it's a great musical. I think it's a very good choice no matter you go with your family or friends. ...

I got her there at last!

Advantages: Brilliant performance. Great costumes. Greater music
Disadvantages: Bit of a pain if you get a bad seat

Cats, Cats is great, I have seen it 3 times live and about 20 times on the Video, I love it. You can see from watching it why it is the longest running westend show of all time. On our third trip to London I finally persuaded my partner to accompany me to the show, so we got some great priced tickets from a small dealer in Covent Garden, and headed back to the hotel to freshen up. We got to the theatre about an hour before the start of the show, ...
...the dazzle of the stage swept my partner off her feet. From the opening song to the final bow she was dazzled. I was so happy that she liked it as much as me, and we now hope to see lots more shows. Cats is simply the best. ...

puurfect performance

Advantages: great show
Disadvantages:

CAts is ace - especially at this theatre. I have seen cats 3 times and it is great. the sotry is somehow lacking but the songs are great and the performance is brill - especially memories which will always be a tearjerker! The stage moves round so if you are sat at the bottom you really feel part of the show as - the whole audience feels like they are in the front row it is great and the performance comes alive. The problem is if you are late - forgetit ...

Alas, Poor Cats, I Knew Them Well

Advantages: Modern circular stage
Disadvantages: Repertoire currently monopolised by Cats

Not one of my longer opinions, but it's more of a wake-up call to anyone in the London area who thinks that they could go to see "Cats" any time, after all, it's been on for years hasn't it? I don?t suppose that there are many people who haven?t heard of the Andrew Lloyd-Weber?s musical ?Cats?. Based on T S Elliot?s poems from Old Possum?s Book Of Practical ?Cats?, it has been part of the London theatre scene for many years. In fact, it has been staged at the New London Theatre, Drury Lane WC2, for most of the venue?s lifespan, having been built and opened to the public in 1973. Unlike other West End houses, the theatre is built to the modern standard of circular stage with the audience on three quarters of its circumference and for this reason, the production really seems at home here. I have now seen ?Cats? twice in ...
