Advantages: Hot weather, nice food, everythings cheaper than in England Disadvantages: Dangerous roads
turtles, we saw some baby turtles that were tiny and some adults that were 1 metre in length! These turtles bred and lived on the beach that our hotel was on and often turtles would land on the beach. Luckily our hotel was very protective of the turtles and were taking lots of measures to help the turtles that are getting closer to extinction everyday.
So overall I would say Crete is a good holiday destination and I'd reccomened it to other Ciaoers. ...

Advantages: Sightseeing, markets, weather, amenities, culture, friendly people, nightlife, food. Disadvantages: Euro rate. Some places shut due to economy. Drivers.
Welcome to Crete. Do you want to come for a relaxing holiday or to go crazy clubbing all night. You can do both on this island, but if you dont want drunken teenagers at all hours disturbing you do not go to Malia or some other areas where Club 18-30 or equivalent teenage holidays operate. Check with your tour operator first before your book. Also, if you have walking problems or small children, check that the hotels are not stuck up a hill as some in Hersonissos area are and pulling a pram up steps in heat is not much fun.
Crete has a wide range of things to do and see. The beautiful scenic area of Elounda and Chania is for a quieter holiday. You can also visit Santorini on a day trip but beware that the boat can be a bit choppy sometimes and delayed. There is also the 'leper' island of Spinalonga, which is interesting ...

Advantages: scenic and beautiful especially in spring and late summer Disadvantages: Millions of other tourists if you go to the wrong place

Instead, the village of Panormos is the embodiment of everything I?d hoped for: tranquil beaches surrounded by impeccably clear sapphire waters, pretty cobbled streets, baking under a flamboyant summer sky.
I lunch on delicious meze, alternating that with less pleasureable sips of the well meant complimentary ...

One of the nicest at the Venetian Harbor, this restaurant has a pleasant ambience and food as good as any other's. That appeal is partly based on its air-conditioned dining room -- not everyone's idea of being on a Cretan harbor -- and its very reputation has made it crowded, especially when tour groups move in. Seafood is its specialty, naturally, and this means the high end of the menu prevails. Not a place to try if all you want are mezedes. Save this for a special occasion -- and go during the off season or during off-peak hours.
