Staying at home or going to work as mums-this is probably one of the most difficult decisions many of us have to make, and there are no right answers. I want to talk about this from the perspective of a mum who has brought up two sons and two daughters, the youngest of whom is now 17.
In the 1950's this was never really the massive issue it has become today. Women in many cases just expected to be at home raising children, and of course caring for the home. The choices for child care were limited, and for many it was a dream to become a mum and a housewife. I remember vividly being a bridesmaid for my cousin when he married in the early 70s. His wife was thrilled by the thought of a future caring for a home and a family, she had been buying groceries weekly and storing them under her bed. Home and Away was the new Neighbours in the 1980s. If you watched Neighbours you were old news, whilst the characters down the "bay" were the people to know. The Bay is, of course, Summer Bay, a ficticious sea side resort set in the outback of Australia. There in is a caravan park, a diner, a surf club, a bait shop and a few miles down the road Yabbi Creek (which we often hear about, but never see). Home and Away tells the story of the inhabitants of Summer Bay. How they meet eachother in the diner, sleep with each other in the caravan park, argue with each other in the surf club, and eventually get on a bus to Yabbi Creek and leave.
The characters have changed over the years many times, so many in fact that the cast list when ITV pulled it of the air (a year ago) was full of strangers. There are a few regulars, the husband and wife ...

Home Alone, was a classic hit comedy film that was first released in 1991. Even in my adulthood, I am more than happy to watch the film again, and when I was a kid I use to remember watching this film a hundred times during the Christmas holidays and summer holidays. It was such a feel good family fun film; it was the sort of film that even if you?ve watched it once you would never gets bored watching it over and over again.
Plot:
The film opens with the entire McCallister family packing for their Christmas vacation to France. The family is exceptionally big, some 30 plus including adults. Kevin McCallister the youngest in the family needs help packing his luggage, the older kids simply don?t have the time or the patience to help him, he feels left out and unwanted, just like most teenagers.
