Considering how close this pub is to the noisy Queens Road, it is very quiet, even when you are in the beer garden.
It one of the only pubs so close to the centre of Brighton where you can have a decent conversation, even on a Friday night. Even though it gets fairly busy, there is no loud music to make conversation difficult.
Personally I like to have a few pints there before hitting the town properly. They do a good pint of Harveys (local bitter) but it is a little on the expensive side.
Sunday lunch is good as well and only costs about a fiver.
